More of the beautiful doors of Zanzibar. The rounded tops are the Indian influenced doors and the square ones are Arabic influenced. The brass spikes were originally used by the Indian people for protection from elephants, but there are no elephants in Zanzibar. Now they are just decorative. Beautiful!

Day 4 -Visiting the endangered, endemic monkey species - Zanzibar red colobus. They were adorable and completely uninterested in us humans!

Day 3 - Zanzibar is beautifu! We are loving the seaviews while we get over the jet lag and look forward to our planned excursions.

Day 2 - we made it to Addis Ababa safely. There was a mechanical malfunction when we stopped in Togo to refuel, and that delayed our arrival to ADD. We missed dinner and a tour of the city, but still had a wonderful (but quick) visit. Ethiopean Air has a great stopover transit program, with a complimentary stay in their 5 star hotel, meals, tours and transportation. Can't wait to experience more of these options with another trip!

Starting our adventure on Ethiopean Airlines - noted as the best Airline in Africa in major industry rankings. We are on an older plane with the 2-2-2 style business class seating, but we are more than comfortable in the bulkhead (my honey is 6'2") and the service has been amazing. Can't wait to try the food!
