A great birding excursion at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco with this friend group. The highlights were a flock of RED-MASKED PARAKEETS (the famous parrots of Telegraph Hill), Brown Creepers, a fledgling COOPER'S HAWK, and the most exciting was the endemic NUTTALL'S WOODPECKER that was vocalizing and tapping but took us a while to find when Lara spotted it!

Desert birding and herping! Searching for LeConte's Thrasher and other desert species.

Already found two rarities ... Black Phoebe (ha, such the ubiquitous species in Cali but not in the desert) and Yellow-breasted Chat.

AND got a glimpse of the highly endemic Coachella Valley Fringe-toed Lizard! Wohoo!
