The City of Scottsboro is deeply saddened to share the passing of Councilman and retired Chief of Police Ralph Dawe.

Following a distinguished career in law enforcement, Ralph continued his lifelong commitment to serving others as a member of the Scottsboro City Council, Place 1. First elected in August 2020 and re-elected in August 2024, he worked tirelessly to ensure city employees were valued and fairly compensated so they could best serve our community. He championed efforts to make Scottsboro’s building codes more welcoming to developers and home builders, attract new industries and small businesses, and strengthen the city’s infrastructure to create a thriving, inviting place for both residents and visitors.

Ralph’s steadfast dedication, thoughtful leadership, and genuine care for the people of Scottsboro will be remembered for years to come. Our hearts are with his family, friends, and all who had the privilege to know and work alongside him.
