We loved welcoming the sweet students from Cumberland Presbyterian Preschool for a special field trip yesterday! The children got to meet Mayor McCamy, learn about how City Hall works, and get a behind-the-scenes look at how City Hall serves our community!

🚧 ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE 🚧

A portion of Old Larkinsville Road is now closed to through traffic following significant flooding caused by excessive rainfall on June 7–8.

Flooding at the Roseberry Creek Bridge damaged the bridge structure and created hazardous roadway conditions, requiring the immediate closure of the affected section of roadway.

📍 Closure Location:
Old Larkinsville Road between 1845 Old Larkinsville Road (just west of County Road 737) and 2025 Old Larkinsville Road at Halls Deer Processing.

Motorists traveling through the area will need to use alternate routes until the roadway can be safely reopened.

City crews are assessing the damage and evaluating repair options. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to restore safe travel conditions.

Updates will be provided as additional information becomes available.

🚛🌟 Employee Spotlight: James Curby 🌟🚛

Meet James Curby, one of our dedicated Operator III team members with the Scottsboro Solid Waste Department! In his role, James operates the packer truck at the landfill!

James began working for the city in February 2000, starting out driving the night truck. Over the years, his hard work and experience have helped him grow into the role he serves in today, making him a valued part of the team for more than two decades.

For James, no two days are exactly alike. A typical workday often depends on the weather, with rain and bad conditions creating some of the biggest challenges on the job. No matter the conditions, James continues showing up and getting the work done for the community.

When asked what he enjoys most about his job, James says it’s the people he works with. He appreciates the fun, family atmosphere shared among his coworkers and the strong relationships they’ve built over the years.

Originally from Florida, James moved to Scottsboro years ago to be closer to family and has called this area home ever since. Outside of work, he enjoys relaxing after a hard day’s work and taking it easy.

Scottsboro City offices will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2026, in observance of Memorial Day. Normal operations will resume on Tuesday, May 26.

There will be no garbage or recycling pickup on Monday, May 25. Please place your trash out by 6 AM on your adjusted scheduled pickup day.
