Today our hearts are incredibly heavy and completely broken. The world has lost Craig the elephant, and even though he lived half a world away, his presence touched our lives in a way that feels deeply personal. We were blessed to see Craig in Africa, not once but twice, and standing in his presence was humbling beyond words. He was a gentle giant, and carried himself with a quiet power and wisdom that made time seem to slow down.

Craig wasn’t just an elephant. He was a symbol of resilience, grace, and the fragile beauty of the wild. Seeing him roaming the Amboseli plains free reminded us why conservation matters, knowing that he is gone feels like losing a piece of something sacred.

Rest peacefully, Craig. Thank you for the moments, the memories, and the reminder that these magnificent beings deserve protection, respect, and a future. We will always be grateful that our paths crossed. 🐘💔

53 year old Lugard, one of the last remaining super tuskers of Tsavo National Park has passed away. He was such an awesome giant. Go well Lugard.🐘❤️

I met some local “beach boys” who took me on a tour of their beach. We came across local women who farm seaweed. Seaweed farming is one of Zanzibar’s biggest coastal industries. Many local women earn their livelihood by growing, drying, and selling seaweed to exporters.

Much of Zanzibar’s seaweed is exported to Asia and Europe, where it’s used in skincare products, soaps, shampoos, and even toothpaste! It helps the ecosystem and reduces pressure on overfished waters. ❤️🌍 🌊

Welcome to Zanzibar! The beaches here are unreal, warm turquoise water, soft white sand, and that easy, laid-back island vibe that makes you forget what day it is. If paradise had an address, it would definitely be somewhere on this island. ❤️🇹🇿🌴🏖️

Today was our last day in the Serengeti, and Mama Nature showed us her best. We had not one, but five separate leopard sightings, and two of them were cubs. To see one leopard on a safari is lucky; to see five is unbelievable. According to National Geographic, leopards have declined by more than 30% in the last 22 years; you wouldn’t believe it after what we saw today.

I will miss being in the safari vehicle; it is a happy place for me. On Sunday, we’re off to Zanzibar.

We left the manor this morning and traveled to the Ngorongoro Crater. The crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and for good reason. It’s one of the seven natural wonders of the world!

The crater is millions of years old, 12 miles wide and 2000 feet deep. It’s a place where time slows down and nature takes center stage. Inside the crater, life unfolds in the most magical way, lions, zebras, flamingos, wildebeest and endless hours of golden light. Truly one of the most awe-inspiring places I’ve ever seen. 🦁🦓🐘🦏🐆

After our day with the Hadzabe and Datoga people, we headed to our next lodge, this time it’s the Manor at Ngorongoro. The manner sits on a 1500 acre coffee estate, the property is decorated in Cape Dutch style architecture. The manor has its own vegetable gardens, everything is farm to table. ❤️

We each have our own farmhouse cottage to stay in, decorated in vintage African style. There’s a beautiful fireplace, and vintage clawfoot bathtub in every room. The property is so beautiful, it offers horseback riding, croquet, walking in the coffee plantation, or relaxing at the pool. In addition they have a full spa, horseback riding and croquet and billiards room.

Here’s The Manor at Ngorongoro. ❤️
