It was such a privilege for and myself to share our passion for The Sea Ranch by hosting a weekend long tour for . We toured 10 private homes along with 7 public spaces and neighborhoods, leaving everyone equally inspired and exhausted. There are so many untold stories about architects and buildings you’ve never heard of. Thanks to all the homeowners, attendees, and for all your encouragement and support.

Special awards winner, this vacation house is really one big room hung on eight poles with cooking place in one alcove, bath in an alcove opposite, and one great window seat for sleeping. Small (585 sf) house achieves grand scale through simplicity. Western Home Awards program is co-sponsored every two years by American Institute of Architects and Sunset Magazine.

The original estimate for the construction of the Mini-Mod in 1967. $14,242 in today’s money would be $124, 700! Sadly, the cost of construction has gone up dramatically, and we estimate it would cost 6 times that amount to build to build a Mini-Mod today!
