Twins Meet World

Twins Meet World 8 year old twin girls (and mom) take on the world! Follow our traveling and worldschooling adventure Welcome to our Page! Then who knows?

For the purposes of this Page (and other online sites) the twins will be named G and A (not their real names). To tell them apart, G has shorter hair and A has longer hair. They are fraternal twins, were born in NYC in 2009 and spent most of their lives (so far) in the Seattle area. Our plan is to travel around Asia for a year (first stop Bali). We'll "worldschool" (like homeschooling but the worl

d is our classroom!) and learn while we travel. Instead of a proper blog, we'll have this Page as well as

Instagram https://www.instagram.com/twins_meet_world/

and a Youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaKNO_OuVQMEJhAs2OXeIUQ

Hope you enjoy following our travel and worldschooling adventures!

We joined a few other worldschooling families at a Thai cooking class in Chiang Mai. Fun and yummy!

My mom's cousin rented a minivan so we can all drive to the DMZ (the demiliterized zone with North Korea) 2+ hours north of Seoul where we visited a train station which was built for the hopeful future reunification of the two countries, then a viewpoint looking into North Korea, then a tunnel that the North Koreans dug in the 1970s to try to invade Seoul. We did not go to the famous Joint Security Area (where representatives from the North and South meet with diplomats from other countries to mediate) but I was there in 1998.

Afterward we drove back to the city and went to the Gyeongbokgung Palace to see a performance but not before renting traditional Korean clothes (hanboks) to wear to the palace. We felt like we were going to a royal ball!

We're here in my birthplace Seoul Korea! I lived in Seoul until the age of 9 before moving to the Seattle area. It's grown immensely since I was a child, even since I last visited in 1998. While I miss Bali I'm happy to be in a climate that's about 15-20 (F) degrees cooler. It's still warm (68-73 degrees F) but it actually feels like early Fall. The girls and I are being absolutely spoiled by my Mom and Aunt (washing multiple loads of our dirty beach clothes from Bali, feeding us yummy Korean food etc) and relatives are plying us with envelopes of cash!! It's nuts! But we are enjoying hanging out with family even though I can barely speak Korean and only a few of my relatives speak English.

On our last day in Bali, Sara and I took our kids to a seafood restaurant on the beach in Jimbaran. It was close to our hotel and near the airport. Sara's flight back to Morocco was at midnight and ours to Korea the next evening.

We had an amazing two months in Bali full of adventure, learning, nature, animals, culture, friendly locals, yummy food, hot weather and new friends. I'm sure we'll be back to this magical island someday!!

We spent an incredible five days on Gili Air which is one of three tiny islands off the northwest coast of Lombok (which is a big island to the east of Bali). I visited this small island (which you can walk around within a couple hours) 15 years ago and was amazed at how much more developed it is now but still retains the feeling of being on a deserted island in spots. No motorized vehicles are allowed and everyone gets around via walking, bicycles, horse carts and some locals have electric scooters. Internet was spotty so we spent our time relaxing in beach cafes, snorkling and whiling away the days playing on the beach with our traveling friends Sara and kids.

I haven't had great internet access the past week 1/2 as we've been to a couple beach towns (I know tough life ha ha) and now that we're in Seoul Korea I'm trying to catch up on posting travel photos. Here are pics of our time in Amed Bali which is a beach area in the dry, hilly northeast corner of Bali. The views are stunning and the snorkeling fantastic. We went there with our friends Sara Warden and her kids whom we first met in Ubud about a month earlier. I'll post GoPro videos of our snorkeling later on our youtube channel.
