Patience Jackson (she/her), a Senior Director of Care Navigation & Virtual Primary Care from Houston, TX, leads efforts to improve and expand services, streamline processes, scale operations, and improve patient care.
Accolade’s BOLD (Black Originators, Leaders & Doers) ERG holds deep meaning for Patience. “It represents more than just a group, it's a supportive community grounded in shared identity, purpose, and empowerment. It reflects my passion for creating pathways that uplift others and builds a culture where everyone can thrive together.”
Patience’s passion for helping others stems from her father’s battle with cancer. Her dad’s journey was one of resilience and courage. Every day was a delicate balance of managing symptoms, making treatment decisions, and holding space for the emotional weight of it all. There were moments of hope, exhaustion, and when she had to fight for him to receive the care he deserved.
“Even in the most challenging moments of his illness, he remained a source of strength for me, just as I was for him. Being his caregiver was one of the hardest yet most meaningful roles I’ve ever had. It was an honor to walk alongside him in his journey, ensuring he felt supported, respected, and cared for every step of the way.”
Her dad’s cancer journey gave her an intimate understanding of what it feels like to be on the other side of healthcare: the fear, uncertainty, and overwhelming amount of information families must process. That experience shaped how she leads today. She makes her team’s roles as easy as possible so they can focus on what matters most, ensuring our members feel heard, valued, and cared for.
“It’s personal for me. As a Black woman, healthcare is deeply personal. It’s about advocacy, representation, and ensuring that care is equitable and accessible to all. I’ve witnessed firsthand the disparities that exist in our healthcare system, and I am committed to breaking down those barriers. Advocacy is woven into who I am, and it’s an honor to bring that dedication to every person we care for.”
Patience shares this advice for caregivers: “Give yourself grace. Caregiving is one of the most selfless and emotionally taxing roles you can take on. You will have moments where you feel exhausted, overwhelmed, and unsure if you’re doing enough, but remember that your presence, your love, and your advocacy make all the difference.”
