In preparations for the next Big Ride my good friend Roger Moore and I have done some modifications and upgrades to the Mobec Duodrive sidecar setup. Time for a shake down to see if we did good work or not.
Happy to report that after a roundtrip of 1,000+ miles of gravel, rocks and mud from Dawson City to Tuktoyaktuk and back to Dawson City all is well with rig and rider. It was a wonderful ride with weather from 82F and sunshine to pouring rain, wind and 39F.
It is now 36 years since I passed Dawson City on my way up to Alaska and Prudhoe Bay.
In comparison with the Prudhoe Bay track this ride to Tuktoyaktuk was both more challenging and scenic.
In my opinion, a perfect testing ground in preparations for the next Big Ride.
Greetings from Grizzly Lake, Alaska.

Just outside Al Ula, Saudi Arabia’s northwestern desert, we went to see an art exhibit by Andy Warhol. Strange place for an art exhibit you might think. Indeed, it was not only unexpected, but also quite fascinating to get to see this unique building where the exhibit was held. The Maraya concert hall holds the Guinness World Record for largest mirrored building on earth.

For those of you that are waiting for updates from our GlobeRiders Muscat to München Adventure we hope to have stories and pictures posted soon on GlobeRiders Journal pages. Time is flying by and we are already in Georgia and will enter Turkey next week.

In preparations for GlobeRiders Muscat to München Adventure 2023 I brought my Mobec Duodrive sidecar to SoSo Cycles in Fife Washington. They are my local BMW dealer, great employees and friends for so many years now.
The main service was to have the driveshaft on the BMW R1200GSA 2018 model checked. Bike has 12,000 miles and after the check I were informed that there was no need for a replacement driveshaft. All I got was a hole drilled and a rubber valve installed. This is supposed to take care of buildup of water in the driveshaft housing.
If you have a good eye, you will see, next to the rubber valve, that I already had drilled a ventilation hole right after I got the bike in 2019.
Have you had your driveshaft replaced and if so after how many miles?

Wishing You all and the World a Better 2023.

In preparations for GlobeRiders Muscat to München Adventure 2023 I am here in Southern Germany visiting Mobec. They are the builders behind my latest sidecar rig that I will be using on this upcoming journey, not the one in these pictures though.

What you see here is Mobec's Superdrive model, an incredible machine. No less than 16 gears, 6 in reverse, 6 low gear with a max speed at 40 km/h and the normal 6 gear going forward and all powered by a BMW R1200GSA liquid cooled engine.

It was great fun to try this monster and I were in particular impressed with the low gearing as I worked my way through a muddy road in a farmers field.

If you like one bring a backpack full of Euros, some 120,000.-
