Alaskan summer is a bit wetter than your typical summer weather, which makes it tricky to pack for. If you’re setting sail this season, save this post to refer back to while you prepare and go to our website for more packing tips!
Don’t forget:
Warm base layers: Bring clothing that layers easily so that you can add or remove layers as conditions change throughout the day. We recommend moisture wicking fabrics such as wool and polyester. Merino wool hiking socks will also help keep your feet comfortable.
Waterproof outer layers: Excursions happen rain or shine! A heavy-duty, waterproof rain jacket and rain pants with waterproof, taped seams (made of Gore-Tex, Pertex, or a similar waterproof fabric) are highly recommended.
Dry-bag: If you plan on bringing items with you while kayaking, we recommend a dry-bag so they don’t get wet.
Hat and gloves: Bonus points if they’re water resistant!
Sunglasses and SPF: Don't underestimate the UV! SPF lip balm is great for bonus protection.
Camera gear: If you like photographing wildlife, a large zoom lens will help capture the action.
Bathing suit: If you plan on doing the polar plunge, make sure to bring your bathing suit! Some vessels also have hot tubs onboard.
We'll provide:
All Adventure Gear: Don’t worry about traveling with large gear like paddle boards, kayaks, or hiking poles. We provide it all!
Rubber boots: We have women's size 5 up to a men's size 12 boots available on board to borrow. We recommend bringing an extra pair of wool socks and a pair of insoles to assist in comfort/fit. If you fall outside of that size range or just want guarantee the perfect fit, we recommend bringing your own pair.
Reusable water bottles: All guests can borrow a reusable water bottle to take on excursions.
Binoculars: Each cabin has a pair of binoculars to take with you on excursions, and there are additional available in common areas.
Sunblock and Bug Spray: Our vessels will have some available to use so you’re never left unprepared.
Food and Drinks: All meals and drinks are included in your cruise fare (and they’re delicious)! No need to pack your own food unless you have a trail snack that you absolutely can’t live without.
