The knight depicting John Hunyadi is returning home, to the Mace Tower! The knight that had watched over my hometown of Hunedoara since November 23, 1873, was taken down from the Mace Tower on November 5, 2025, after 152 years. The statue underwent a restoration process. Our guests had the rare opportunity to encouter the knight before it was raised back to the top of Mace Tower. An opportunity like this only comes about every 150 years....

Inside Peleș Castle in Sinaia, the craftsmanship is nothing short of extraordinary — especially the intricate woodwork that defines its interiors.

Built between 1873 and 1914 at the request of King Carol I of Romania, the castle became a showcase of European artistry at the highest level. The wood paneling, ceilings, staircases, and carved details were created by master craftsmen brought from Austria and Germany, working for decades to complete the vision.

More than 30 types of wood were used throughout the castle — including walnut, oak, cherry, lime, ebony, and exotic imported woods. Every room reveals a different story in texture and pattern, from hand-carved ceilings to finely detailed wall panels and inlaid decorative elements.

The result is not just a castle, but a living gallery of woodcraft — warm, detailed, and astonishingly preserved.

Spring in Transylvania is stork nesting season, when the countryside comes alive with quiet rooftops and tall chimneys crowned by carefully built nests. Returning storks settle in for the season, repairing and expanding their homes while tending to their young.

It’s a peaceful rhythm that unfolds above villages and open fields — clattering beaks, soft calls, and constant movement as parents come and go in search of food. Seeing them against the backdrop of rolling hills and rural life is one of the simple, timeless joys of Transylvania in spring.

The canola flower fields are in full bloom across Transylvania this time of year. Driving through the countryside feels almost surreal — endless waves of golden yellow stretching across the rolling hills, surrounding you with color at every turn. It’s one of the most beautiful sights of spring in rural Transylvania.
