Here is Glen Dale, a Rambler introduced in 1927 by Van Fleet. Expansive double flowers of creamy, large petals which open wide and flat, exposing a boss of stamens. A very shade-tolerant rose with handsome, healthy, dark green foliage. Mildly fragrant.

Herre is Richmond, Climbing, a Climbing Hybrid Tea introduced in 1912 by Dickson, A. The climbing form of this famous rose is an important parent in the breeding of red Hybrid Teas. Richmond's flowers are intensely saturated scarlet with a velvety quality, shading to rose pink at the petal bases, reversed rose-crimson. Fragrant.

This is Echo, a Polyantha introduced in 1914 by Lambert. A sport of the famous Rambler Tausenschon, whose carnival of flower colors from rose pink to almost white has ensured its popularity. This dwarf repeating version of Tausenschon has no rivals. Little fragrance.

Here is Rosa minuifolia, a species rose discovered by Charles Perry in 1882. A two foot rose with tiny foliage and 1", 5 petaled flowers of either rosy purple or white. Armed with thorns this rose can make large thickets, spreading by runners. It prefers a very dry and warm climate.

Dear Friends of Vintage Roses, a serious water problem this month has distracted us from completing our rose sale list

To give us time to complete and publish the list we are moving our sale dates into June. Please note these new dates:

Guardians of the Rose may send orders at 10 am on Saturday, June 13th.
All others may begin to place orders on Sunday June 14th at 10 am.
Pickups of orders at the garden June 21st and 27th from 10am to 1pm

Today's rose is Twilight Mist, a Rambler introduced by Robinson in 1994. This seeding of Montecito raised by Phillip Robinson produces large pale lavender semi-double saucers. The plant is a very large Rambler or tree climber and blooms in mid-May. Fragrant.

Here is Anna Scharsach, a Hybrid perpetual introduced in 1890 by Geschwind. Broadly cupped flowers of pearl pink shaded with peach at the petal bases are loosely full, revealing a heart of large golden stamens mixed with petals. Very fragrant.

Here is Alpine Sunset, a Hybrid Tea introduced in 1974 by Cant. One of the loveliest of Hybrid Teas; peach-pink satiny petals with a pale apricot reverse, the whole glowing with light and a complexity of colors; compact growth to 3 feet. Fragrant too.
