Something that we’ve been teaching our students since day one! Be aware when working with compressed air.

When transporting a scuba cylinder, should you pick it up with the or***ce toward your hand or away from your hand? 🤔

Answer:
You should always lift the cylinder with the or***ce away from your hand, thus closing the handwheel while raising. Many divers don’t put much thought into how they lift their cylinders. If you pick it up with the or***ce toward your hand, this may open the handwheel as you lift, blowing high-pressure gas 💨 against your skin and possibly causing skin pe*******on and subcutaneous emphysema.
