Our trip to Havasupai canyon, village and river went really well. We hiked down the canyon for a bout 10 miles, stopping at the Supai Indian Village, then on two other miles to the campgrounds along the banks of the amazing blue waters of the Supai river. We started at 4 in the morning to avoid the sun for the first three exposed miles of the trail, then the wall of the canyon slowly got deeper and deeper as we went down, shading us while walking all the way to the village, about 4 hours to get down. I was backpacking and the weight of the bag killed me but I made it. Got blisters on both my feet, even after checked and chose my shoes very carefully for the trip. Fell two times, twisting my ankles on rocks and got destabilized by the weight of the pack, but I was ok, scratchs on my knees and legs....The price to pay to get to one of the most beautiful place on earth. As soon as you get to the village, water is running along the banks of the trail in some irrigation canals. Then, when you pass the village you start to see the beauty of the blue waters, coming down waterfalls and running along the trail. With the millions year old mile high walls of stone all around you, the pale green of the trees, the sagebrush and the vegetation of the canyon, The scenery is render splendid with the addition of this vivid, pure, electric turquoise blue water everywhere. We were a group of 20, super fun!
