Back up and running! Visited the res and of course had to take in Coal Mine. The coal was actually at the top of the canyon, easily seen in this photo.

John Fredericks, Third Mesa

Oh My, ladies and gentleman, Mr. John Fredericks, the nephew of Oswald Fredericks, White Bear, author of Book of the Hopi. John and his son Thomas keeping the carving alive. As a premier katsina (katchina) artist, this gent is a hoot, despite being a world class katsina carver, he should be on Second City as a comedian. Dry humor? he is above all. Kwak wha John, keep on shaping those cottonwood roots.

Ramson, the first Hopi artist to use glass as a medium. He creates solid pieces and stained glass that are absolutely beautiful. What a spirit, this gent brings calm to any room and is a delight to listen to, a former college professor, he is extremely well versed in Hopi lore and practices.

What can you say, arguably the world's finest silversmith, Roy Telahaftewa, at his shop in Shungopavi, Second Mesa. Also a fabulous painter, talent, talent, talent. Have known Roy for over ten years and am fortunate for our friendship. This gent shares his skill without measure to those that desire to keep the Hopi artistry alive.

Greetings! Loma!
Thanks to all those that have liked and followed A Day with the Hopi and Arizona Photography Tours. We are starting to once again take guests to remote, not often visited photo ops of world class areas such as Bisti, White Pockets, Willis Creek slot and many more. Our territory takes us from Arches/Canyonlands to the north, Tent Rocks and Bisti to the east,Sedona to the south and Zion/Bryce/Grand Canyon to the west. Plus a whole lot more in between.
Give us a call or email [email protected] and we can discus what tours will fit your timing and budget. Kwak Wha from Sedona!
