Happy Sunday. Here’s a sweet story for you:
Mr. JR Tull is an amazing man. At 94 years of age, he is independent and full of life. During a recent photo shoot at his home, Mr. JR shared several stories, including his last moments with his wife Nancy, who passed away at 10:34 a.m. January 13th. Mr. JR said on that morning he cooked sausage, toast and molasses for her breakfast. He made sure the meal was soft so she wouldn’t have any trouble chewing. Their daughter Tammi King was there to help feed her breakfast. After a bite or two, Miss Nancy said, “Papa (that’s what she called Mr. JR), I want a kiss.”
“I kissed her,” said Mr. JR. “After taking another bite, she once again said, ‘I want another kiss, so I kissed her.’”
After another bite, for a third time she said, “Papa, I want another kiss.”
Mr. JR explained that after breakfast they waited for nurses to come tend to her. He went into the living room to wait for them. After a few minutes, Miss Nancy said, “Where you at papa?”
“I’m in here waiting on the nurses,” Mr. JR answered. “I’m not going anywhere hon.”
A few minutes later the nurses arrived and went into the bedroom to attend to Mrs. Tull. The nurses and Mr. JR went into the bedroom and after checking her, the nurses told him that she had passed.
“Within just a few minutes she had passed,” said Mr. JR. With his voice cracking, Mr. JR
said, “She just wanted one more
kiss, just one more kiss.”
Clutching a memory book of her,
Mr. JR said, “There’s not a day I
don’t think about her. She’s the
love of my life.”
Not to end with a sad note, Mr. JR
gave me a variety of vegetables he
had gathered from his garden that
morning. Thawnk you Mr. Tull for
sharing a part of your day.
