🇺🇸️Selmer Freedom Fest 250🇺🇸
❤️🤍💙United at the Heart of McNairy💙🤍❤️
While thinking through some future community ventures that would include all of our surrounding cities and McNairy County as a whole, a simple but important question came to mind:
Why do we continue to celebrate separately when we have an opportunity to come together?
That thought is what helped shape the vision for Freedom Fest 250, which is planned for a two day event~
Day 1: Friday, July 3rd, a parade leading into Downtown Selmer’s First Friday events
Day 2: Saturday, July 4th, the big celebration at the Selmer City Park.
With 2026 marking the 250th birthday of the United States of America, this is not just another Fourth of July event. This is a once in a generation opportunity to celebrate our nation’s history while also making a meaningful statement here at home: that McNairy County is stronger when we stand together.
So the idea became this: rather than hosting a celebration that is viewed as only Selmer’s event, let’s use Selmer’s location as the heart of McNairy County to help bring everyone together. Let’s invite our neighboring cities and their leaders, families, churches, businesses, organizations, and residents from every part of McNairy County to take part in one united celebration.
That being said, Freedom Fest 250 is being planned as a celebration of the United States of America as a United County.
The goal is for Selmer City Park to serve as the gathering place, but for the event itself to belong to all of McNairy County. We want our surrounding cities and county communities to feel welcomed, included, and represented not as separate groups, but as neighbors coming together to celebrate something bigger than any one town.
This celebration will include food trucks, kids activities, live music, dancing, and a large fireworks display, with more details to come as planning continues. But the true purpose behind it is unity.
It is about building momentum for future partnerships. It is about showing that our communities can work together, celebrate together, and support one another. It is about creating an event that residents across McNairy County can look at and say, “This is for all of us.”
We are grateful for the interest and participation already shown by other communities and their leaders, and I hope we can continue building that spirit of cooperation in a positive and respectful way.
All cities. One county. One community. One big celebration.
