WOMANMADE PRODUCTS CELEBRATES 50 YEARS AND A NEW GENERATION OF OWNERSHIP
SENECA FALLS, NY, September 4, 2026 --- Anniversary Celebration plans are underway as WomanMade Products celebrates its 50th year in business. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held on September 12 from 2-6 pm at the store’s 91 Fall St., Seneca Falls location. Featuring refreshments, live music by local favorite Annie and Marley, storewide discounts and specials, and free commemorative t-shirts for the first 50 guests.
Fifty years after Becky Bly founded WomanMade Products, a t-shirt screen printing company and gift shop, the longtime Seneca Falls business is beginning a new chapter. Bly began the business on Long Island, where its early years included a feminist and LGBTQ bookstore, original T-shirt designs, and custom screen printing. As the bookstore landscape changed, Bly relocated WomanMade Products to Seneca Falls in 1991, finding a particularly fitting home for a feminist business in the birthplace of the women's rights movement. After a couple of moves, WomanMade eventually settled at 91 Fall Street, where it has grown into a downtown fixture known for original apparel, gifts, books, fair-trade and woman-made products, souvenirs and custom screen printing.
Over more than three decades in Seneca Falls, Bly's impact has extended well beyond the walls of the shop. She has been deeply involved in downtown and community organizations, women's rights events, the It's a Wonderful Life Festival, Canal Fest, Seneca Community Players, and the Seneca Falls Performing Arts Center, among many other projects. In recognition of that work, Bly was named Seneca County Woman of the Year by the Seneca County Women's Coalition in 2023, an honor also recognized by the New York State Legislature. Through it all, WomanMade Products reflected Bly's belief that a small business could be more than a place to shop - it could support women, contribute to its community, and have some fun while doing it.
In June 2026, Bly passed ownership of WomanMade Products to her niece, Stephanie Yearsley, keeping the business in the family as it enters its 50th year. For Yearsley, keeping WomanMade locally owned and in Seneca Falls was just as important. The shop will remain at its home on Fall Street, and Yearsley plans to build on what her aunt created - continuing the in-house screen-printing operation and WomanMade's focus on woman-made, woman-owned and women-supporting products, while expanding its online presence, adding new merchandise, and finding new ways for the business to serve both the local community and the thousands of visitors who come to Seneca Falls each year.
“Becoming the new owner of WomanMade means much more than buying a business. Becky built something over the last 50 years that has become part of our family, part of our community, and has empowered women from all over who have visited Seneca Falls.” Yearsley said. It was important to Yearsley that WomanMade Products stay here, stay independent and stay connected to the community. “I feel incredibly lucky to be the person who gets to carry it forward.” Yearsley promises that there will be new ideas and changes along the way, but the heart of WomanMade Products - supporting women, speaking up for what matters, and not taking ourselves too seriously - isn't going anywhere. As the motto of the company says…”Relax, there’s a woman on the job!”
