Today is the first official day of fall--and it's beginning to feel like it in the Smokies!

The trees are beginning to show the first hints of seasonal color. These vibrant changes draw visitors from all over, and it is not unusual for the park to see more than a million people in October alone. With cooler temperatures and beautiful scenery lining every road and trail, popular areas can become crowded quickly. Planning ahead and having a backup plan can make all the difference for a smooth and enjoyable autumn visit.

Visitors need a valid parking tag to park a vehicle longer than 15 minutes anywhere in the park. Purchase your tag online and print before your visit to save time. Park only in designated spots—illegally parked vehicles can block emergency vehicles and damage park resources.
