 Veterans: Are you leaving 10% on the table when you cruise aNCL?

I’ve talked to several veterans recently who did not know Norwegian Cruise Line offers a military discount.

NCL’s Military Appreciation Program gives eligible veterans and military members 10% off the cruise fare after verifying military status through Id Me. That discount can also be combined with many of NCL’s current promotions.

And right now there are some particularly good NCL offers worth checking before September 30.

For example, on a typical 7-night sailing, NCL’s Free at Sea package can include:

• 150 minutes of Wi-Fi
• 3 specialty-dining meals
• $50 toward eligible shore excursions at each port for the first guest
• Plus NCL’s other applicable promotional benefits

Verified military members may also find 20% military savings on select eligible Guarantee staterooms, so it is worth checking both options before booking.

If you cruise NCL—or think you might someday—make sure your military status is connected to your My NCL account through ID.me before you book.

🚢 Cruise news is not always exciting—but it can affect your money, your plans and the vacation you thought you booked.
Here are five cruise updates worth knowing this week:

⚓ Royal Caribbean is offering double Crown & Anchor points on eligible new bookings made through September 21. It could help you reach your next loyalty level faster, especially if you cruise solo—but changing or repricing the reservation later may cost you those bonus points. We do the math before chasing the points.

🚢 Carnival Tropicale is officially open for booking! Carnival’s newest Galveston-based ship begins sailing in 2028 with four- to eight-day itineraries, six water slides and plenty of family-friendly activities. It looks like a great fit for active families and multigenerational groups—but probably not for someone looking for a quiet little ship. 🤣

🛳️ Holland America changed the timing of Oosterdam’s major refurbishment, resulting in cancellations for several previously scheduled 2027 voyages. Affected travelers need to compare more than the replacement cruise fare—cabin accessibility, promotions, airfare and hotel arrangements all matter.

🌊 Riviera has reopened sales for Rhine and Danube river cruises, but low-water problems are not over. Some sailings are operating with redesigned routes and alternative transportation. “Back on sale” does not necessarily mean “back to the original itinerary.”
🏝️ Carnival also changed Celebration Key port times on more than 50 Carnival Elation sailings. Carnival excursions will be adjusted automatically, but independently booked activities may need attention.
