Sequim is located on the beautiuful north Olympic Peninsula in the state of Washington. Bordered by the waters of the Straight of Juan de Fuca to the north and the magestic Olympic Mountains to the south, Sequim sits in a rainshadow that allows approximately 16" of annual rainfall, making it one of the driest places in Western Washington and a paradise for outdoor activity. "The Lavender Capital o

f North America" Sequim is well known for its commercial cultivation of the fragrant herb and for its premier celebration, Sequim Lavender Weekend, the third weekend of July. Also home to the longest running festival in the state of Washington, the Sequim Irrigation Festival celebrates the innovation and vision of the irrigation ditches that channeled the waters from the Dungeness River to make the arid Sequim-Dungeness Valley fertile agricultural lands. While you're here be sure to visit the Olympic Game Farm with the famous waving kodiak bears, the beautiful John Wayne Marina on Sequim Bay, savor local berries and organic produce from a local farm, or take a hike along the Dungeness Spit. With Sequim's central location on the Olympic Peninsula, it is the perfect place to stay while you explore all that the area has to offer.

Washington State celebrates Smokey Bear's birthday today. August 9 is one of the 12 days in 2025 when a Discover Pass is not required to access state-managed lands. What it means: On this day, visitors can park their vehicles without needing a Discover Pass on lands managed by the DNR, Washington State Parks, and the WDFW. This free day applies to all Washington State Parks, as well as other state-managed lands. The Discover Pass free day applies to day-use parking and does not affect overnight camping fees or other overnight stay requirements. Just one of the reasons to visit beautiful Bay State Park! For day use or overnight camping, there is access to the beach, a boat launch dock, picnic tables, trails, horseshoe pits, baseball field, and tennis courts. The Olympic Discovery Trail travels through the park, and the campground has 3 hiker/biker sites for individuals that enter the park on foot or bicycle. Learn more about this fantastic spot and reserve a campsite at https://ow.ly/vyTA50WB1Fp.

To honor Smokey Bear, remember that our area, Clallam County, WA, is currently under a full burn band, in effect now through October 1, 2025. This ban prohibits all outdoor burning, including recreational fires like campfires and briquette BBQs.
