Just to share some positive news today! 😊

It's official! Governor Josh Stein has proclaimed October 18 as Great Trails State Day, recognizing the vital role trails play in strengthening North Carolina’s communities and economy.

Trails support tourism, create jobs, increase property values, and improve public health, making our towns and cities more vibrant places to live, work, and explore. As a key part of North Carolina’s $16.2 billion outdoor recreation industry, trails also encourage healthy movement, such as walking, riding, and paddling, that benefits both body and mind.

This year also marks an important milestone for the Great Trails State Program, with $25 million in grants awarded to support 79 trail projects across North Carolina. These investments continue to build on our vision of making North Carolina truly The Great Trails State.
