It's that time of year when we get treated to visits from our local wildlife during work activities in the TN Smokies. We walked out of one cabin door this past week to be greeted by a beautiful black bear in Wears Valley. We also noticed a family of Canadians visiting Gatlinburg on another workday. Definitely blessed to be doing business in the Smokies. ☺️

One of the many assets that sets us apart from our competitors is multiple years of quality management training through our 30+ year corporate careers before starting 5-Star Property Care, LLC nearly 16 years ago in Sevierville, Tennessee. One of the main (if not, THE main) components for quality management is, of course, customer service.

We understand the fact that the key to successful business operations not only involves providing quality services to external customers (which is typically STR owners) but also internal customers such as property management professionals, housekeepers, handyman contractors, pest control contractors, cable contractors, etc....the list goes on but basically covers anyone employed by the STR owner. We operate with the mindset that all internal customers are part of the team and do our best to convey that through our actions to all customers (internal and external) in order to maximize ROI for the STR owners. It's in our DNA, and it's what we bring to the table.

GATLINBURG NATIVE NEWS FLASH — August 18, 2025

Virginia Woman Charged After Feeding Black Bear in Gatlinburg — A 21-year-old woman from Virginia faces a Class B misdemeanor after being filmed hand-feeding a black bear in Gatlinburg. The video shows the bear being offered watermelon, chocolate, and other snacks.

Charges Filed — Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) confirmed that the woman was charged with illegal feeding of wildlife. Maximum penalty: 6 months in jail and a $500 fine.

TWRA Statement — Officials emphasize that feeding bears conditions them to associate people with food, increasing the chance of future human-bear conflicts — often resulting in the bear being euthanized.

Reminder to Visitors and Locals — Bear-human interactions should be avoided at all times. TWRA encourages the public to report bear feeding, improper trash storage, or wildlife harassment.

Gatlinburg’s Bear Safety Laws Are Serious — This incident reinforces the strict enforcement of laws designed to protect both wildlife and human life in the Smoky Mountain region.
