US 441 (Newfound Gap Rd) remains closed, as a High Wind Warning is in effect until this afternoon. The mountain has already endured multiple wind gusts in excess of 85mph. Rain is also expected to arrive this morning and last all day.

Cherokee Orchard Rd is also now closed at the park boundary due to downed trees. The park and Mt. LeConte have taken a beating from the storm.

Guests with reservations tonight affected by the road closures should contact our office ASAP regarding options if you have not yet spoken with a reservationist.

The river is calling!

I was born and raised in Gatlinburg, and I spent my childhood growing up in the Smokies. I moved to San Antonio, Texas in 2015 when I married my husband, Clay. We had our daughter in 2018, and I wanted to have a place that we could call home when we visited. We bought River Rest Cabin in the Pittman Center/Sevierville area and its roughly 2 acres in the fall of 2018, and it was the perfect cure for my homesickness! We renovated the cabin and improved its grounds while embracing its nostalgic magic. There’s nothing like it anywhere on Earth. It is also a special place where I want my daughter (or future children!) to enjoy the great outdoors, explore adventures year-round, encourage her/their love for the National Park, grow within a strong sense of local community, learn about Appalachian culture, and take in all the beauty surrounding my hometown in the Great Smoky Mountains.
