MEET SCHWEITZER CUSTOMS: In 1993, Les and his wife Wilma started their business with a simple goal: to deliver the highest quality craftsmanship to their customers. What began as a small shop on their 5-acre farm gradually expanded, with additional employees joining the team and Wilma dedicating her skills to the stain and finish shop. Thanks to their hard work and loyal customers, the business has thrived for over 30 years.

This book was shared with me a couple of years ago and is a wonderful collection of memories written by Clara (Koenig) Schaal in 1941. She was the grandniece of George Weller, the first professor and president of the Seward Lutheran Seminary. This collection of stories is a treasure for Seward County as it has so many memories of homesteading near the Staplehurst area. We are fortunate to have documented the very essence of attending, church, school and living in log cabins and early life on the prairie. I admire Clara's wonderful ability and style of sharing all of these memories - they are precious to this generation. This book is available at Liberty House, Chapters Books & Gifts and from any member of the Blue River Historical District at $21.99 plus taxes. All proceeds will go towards the restoration of the Log Cabin and the development of the site. Enjoy!

Andrew Jackson Higgins Day Concert at the Nebraska National Guard Museum on Wednesday, August 28th (his birthday) at 7:00pm in the west Amphitheater. Rain location inside the museum.
