Puffins are always a fun challenge to photograph, these little torpedoes zip by at a fast pace! Matching the panning speed is critical to allow the focus to lock onto the subject. Fast shutter speeds and anticipating the direction and path the subject is on helps create strong images. We also position in an area where the behavior is repeatable to increase the opportunities and keeper rate.

You never know whats lurking beneath the surface, the whiskers on this harbor seal are highly specialized, sensory hairs that act as underwater radar. Their unique wavy structure allows seals to track the hydrodynamic trails left by swimming fish from over 300 feet away, even in the pitch black waters.
