The City of Shasta Lake is not only the gateway to Shasta Dam and Shasta Lake, with seemingly endless recreational opportunities; the City of Shasta Lake lies along State Route 151, a scenic byway and main thoroughfare connecting the city with the entrance to Shasta Dam. With a population of 10,164 (Census 2010), it is a community with a small town atmosphere and personality that makes residents p

roud to call it their home. Along with the residents, each year thousands of visitors come from all over the world to see the "Three Shastaโ€™s", Mount Shasta, Shasta Lake and Shasta Dam. Shasta stands a majestic 14,162 feet and is located about 50 miles north of Shasta Dam. All this just a few miles from the heart of the City of Shasta Lake. The City is relatively young, having incorporated in 1993. Its origin has history as it includes the three boomtowns of Project City, Central Valley, and Summit City that were created during the 1936-1945 construction of the legendary Shasta Dam. In 2013, the City and community celebrated its 75/20 Celebration, marking the 75th year since the construction of Shasta Dam, and 20th year since the incorporation of the City. With incorporation, the city adopted a mission statement that describes the Cityโ€™s role in building a strong community. The mission statement declares, . . . โ€œIt is our mission to work together for community prosperity by promoting community cohesiveness, job development, tourism, commercial and industrial strength, civic cleanliness, security for people and their property, and strong family values.โ€ With these goals in mind the Shasta Gateway Industrial Park was developed by the City to promote opportunities for economic growth within our community. To date this park has brought jobs and economic life to our City. We consider each business, visitor, and resident in our community a partner now, and going into the future.

๐Ÿพโค๏ธ Cal-Adopt-A-Pet Day Was a Huge Success! โค๏ธ๐Ÿพ

On June 6th from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, we hosted our adoption event with the generous support of SPCA and CalAnimals, who sponsored the event and waived all adoption fees. Thanks to their support, our community came together in an incredible way, and the results were beyond anything we could have hoped for!

We are thrilled to announce that 17 animals found loving homes in a single dayโ€”an amazing accomplishment for our small shelter!

๐Ÿฑ 13 Kittens Adopted

3 kittens were adopted by our two Animal Control Officers for their families.
10 additional kittens were adopted by wonderful community members who learned about the event through social media and local animal advocates helping spread the word.

๐Ÿถ Nearly 5 Dog Adoptions

4 dogs were officially adopted.
We also launched our very first Foster-to-Adopt Program with one of our puppies!

Even more meaningful, two of the dogs adopted were scheduled for euthanasia due to space constraints the following Monday. Because our community stepped up and opened their hearts and homes, those dogs now have a second chance and a bright future ahead.

We want to give a huge thank you to our amazing volunteersโ€”Cheri, Kelly, Linda, and Terriโ€”who helped make the day such a success. They came prepared with music, lemonade, water, ice chests, pizza, donuts, red vines, and plenty of positive energy that helped create a welcoming and fun atmosphere for everyone who attended.

To everyone who shared our posts, encouraged adoptions, volunteered, donated, attended the event, and welcomed an animal into their family: thank you. Your support directly saved lives and helped move animals from the shelter into safe, loving forever homes.

A very special thank you to SPCA and CalAnimals. Without their sponsorship and the waived adoption fees, this event would not have been possible.

We are beyond grateful, blessed, and excited to see what can happen when a community comes together for animals in need. โค๏ธ

17 adoptions in one day. 17 lives changed forever.
