Spring is a few days away — and you can feel it in Shelburne Falls.

The Deerfield River is running high, the garden at Blooming Inn is stirring, and the village is slowly shaking off winter.

If a proper New England spring escape has been on your mind, there's no better time to start planning. We'd love to have you. 🌿

Celebration in Shelburne Falls today for the official re-opening of the Bridge of Flowers! 🌸✨

The first two photos are views from the Shelburne Fire Tower overlooking the village this morning, followed by moments from the ceremony, and finally a walk across the bridge itself.

A huge thank-you to all the volunteers — they’ve done an amazing job bringing the bridge back to life and making it look so beautiful in such a short time!

We were treated to the rising of the full Sturgeon moon last evening over the Bridge of Flowers which is looking better every day. This photo was taken just before a huge meteorite streaked across the sky.

This is word for word an email that we just received - so funny........."The wife and I stayed there back in June for one night only at Blooming Inn. It was a fantastic visit. I have been telling all my friends that they must put some kind of happy drugs in the water there. We just walked around and went to a couple of restaurants and galleries. Everyone we ran into was incredibly friendly and nice. Spent a half hour exchanging life stories with the gal in the gift shop. Wife bought a book at the book store. Was immediately stopped outside the bookstore and asked all about what she was reading by some random nice lady. Walked into the local library because of the interesting architecture. That turned into a half hour history lesson from the friendly librarian. Must have been first day of no school for kids as every single young boy was required by some kind of local law to walk or ride around with a fishing pole in hand. (I was beginning to get suspicious. Is the whole town filled with paid actors? Is this some kind of New England version of Mayberry RFD?)

We went there to buy more Josh Simpson glass. Everyone in town must also be required by law to have at least one or seven random, nice, Josh Simpson or Catherine Coleman stories.

Plan to return, but don't know when. We kind of messed up by being there on a Monday when many things were closed.
Small disappointment that Bridge of Flowers was closed for renovation. Lesson learned.

Keep up the good attitude and please send me some of those happy drugs!"
😅
FYI the Bridge of Flowers is now open and the ribbon cutting is August 18th.

Shelburne Falls was buzzing with activity on Sunday!

We enjoyed the annual Porch Fest, where local musicians perform from porches all around town—such a fun and lively tradition. Dave Dersham played on our Blooming Inn porch. From there, we took a very short walk to Anne McCormack’s Water Street barn to hear the incredible group Soular Eclipse.

Right across the road, we are thrilled to see the Bridge of Flowers newly reopened and partially replanted—what a beautiful sight after being closed for over a year.

To top off the day, we headed just around the corner to our favorite local spot, Floodwater Brewery, where there’s always great live music. This time, we caught a set by Jeffrey Foucault, a talented musician who lives right here in town but plays on stages around the world.
