Do you have a particular rifle or shotgun that you tend to choose to take out first, even if it is not be the best tool for the job? 

If I have a pesky c**n or possum causing trouble around the farm I’m just as likely to to grab my 375 RUM as a 22. If I’m headed out to hunt coyotes for the day a may grab my 30-06 instead of a 223 or 243. If I want to shoot a few clay pigeons I’m more likely to grab an over/under 410 or my Re*****on 870 with a 22 inch barrel instead of a true trap gun.

Sometimes it just makes it more fun to be out with an old friend in your hands rather than a chunk of steal and wood or plastic that feels like a tool.

Who here has had a stuck case in a die?

I’ve been reading a lot lately about guys with stuck cases. I’ve been using STOS for, gosh and gulp, over 40 years. Knock on wood I’ve never had a stuck case.

Who here has had a stuck case? How did you get it out?

What are some tricks you’ve learned to avoid stuck cases or extraction?

Had some fun today!

For those that follow me you know I have had some frustrations with my 9.3x 62s I finally beat it to submission.

The group on the left is three charge weights with the NF Solids to get the same point of impact as the A-Frames in the center. The right group is 4 shots two solids two A-Frames. It is a whopping .319 inches at 100 yards.

I wanted to get over 2481 to meet the 5300 joules requirement for Zimbabwe. 

Now just hope I can find some more of these bullets before I need them.

How many of you hunt with a AR style rifle?

I would guess most of my followers are a bit on the classic side of things. I also know that many of my followers are from countries where semiautomatic weapons are not allowed. So maybe not the best crowd to ask. I guess that’s why I’m asking. 😁

I don’t have a problem with others hunting with them as long as they make ethical kills on their game. As you can see the painted rifle has seen a bit of use. I doubt I could count the number of coyoties it has put in the truck. But anyone that shoots a lot at running game knows you go through cold spells. When I catch myself in one of those spells I tend to shoot more than hit. I’ll put the AR away and take a bolt action. My shooting tends to improve immediately.

In the end the goal is a fast humane kill to whatever we shoot at. I think for coyotes and pigs they are fantastic. I was thinking about buying one in 350 legend to hunt deer in the trees.
