Lion cubs are very small at birth–weighing around 2–3 pounds. However, they grow up quick! Young cubs begin to participate in pride kills at 11 months, although they probably could not survive on their own until approximately 30 months of age⁣

Why We Started Expedition Wild

The Problem

We noticed there were very few travel experiences that were being tailored towards ethical wildlife photography internationally. There were a few big box companies offering countless tours where one would easily get lost in their vast offerings. These would feel less personable and more generic template settings. They would make the client feel less important which would lead to less rewarding experiences. Many of these companies would also not treat wild animals ethically. From tame birds, to caged game farm animals this is not what the client is after. Clients want to have true experiences, a wild more authentic one where they are connected with nature in an unscripted setting where the animal is free to do what it chooses and for you as the beholder to witness the magic unfold in front of your eyes.

Insight

After witnessing this magic across many of our own custom trips, we began to see how there is a direct need from how we conducted our personal trips and that of one where customers would directly benefit from an authentic true experience. People wanted something real, something more than just the cookie cutter trips. They wanted to be part of their experience, not just watching it from the outside. They want to touch, feel, be in it.
