What does a travel advisor actually DO on a FAM trip?

A lot more than sit on the beach, unfortunately!

Site inspection days mean touring multiple hotels back-to-back and paying attention to the details you won’t necessarily find online — which rooms I would actually recommend, beach quality, the reality of the property layout, accessibility, service, atmosphere, renovations, and most importantly: who belongs here?

Because knowing that a hotel is beautiful is easy.

Knowing whether it’s right for you is where experience matters.

One of the questions I get constantly from clients is: “What happens when we land?”

And I get it. Arriving somewhere you’ve never been can be one of the most stressful parts of international travel.

One of the reasons I prioritize experiencing destinations firsthand is so I can prepare my clients not only for the beautiful parts of their vacation, but for the moments in between them, too. Because luxury isn’t only where you stay. Sometimes it’s simply knowing exactly what’s going to happen next.

I flew into Puerto Vallarta on March 6th, 2026 (2 weeks after the events of El Mencho’s capture) and filmed the arrival process so you can see exactly what it looked like.

From landing to leaving the airport, everything felt smooth and organized!

I know some travelers still have questions about visiting Puerto Vallarta and Mexico in general right now, so I wanted to share a real look at the experience.

Oops. With the start of the holiday season I forgot to tell you… I’m headed back to Jamaica on Wednesday with Sandals Resorts! 🇯🇲

They are having a special “Back to Jamaica” event — an exclusive experience for travel advisors to see firsthand the island’s resilience and readiness for tourist to return.

In the month since Hurricane Melissa, Jamaica and the Sandals Brand have worked tirelessly to care of their own and get to point of welcoming travelers again. Being give this opportunity to witness it myself, connect with the people, and support the island’s recovery means so much to me — both personally and professionally. 💛

I’ll be staying at Sandals Dunn’s River, meeting with the incredible Sandals team, visiting both the Montego Bay & Ocho Rios airports, participating in an off-property excursion, and experiencing Jamaica beyond the headlines.
