What if your camper could charge your TRUCK? ⚡

Our Victron Orion XS normally takes power from the truck and charges the camper batteries. But I wired in a motor-reversing switch that lets me physically reverse the current path.

Flip one switch and instead of:
Truck → Camper

we can do:
Camper → Truck

It's handy if the truck batteries get run down, and I also use it when running our high-draw onboard air compressors.
You still need to change the Orion XS settings for the correct voltage and operating mode, so this isn't quite true automatic bidirectional charging—but it's been a simple workaround that works really well.

Lake Koocanusa - 90 miles of mountain sea stretching between Canada and Montana where the Kootenai River flowed. Held back but the Libby Dam, 6 towns and an old railroad line sleep beneath the reservoir.

Koo - for the Kootenai
Can - for Canada 🇨🇦
Usa - for the USA 🇺🇸

It’s sure pretty and fun to say ☺️

This 21-mile primitive route crosses the rugged Black Hills between Safford and Clifton, climbing nearly 2,000 feet through remote BLM land with incredible views of southeastern Arizona. Unlike many backcountry roads, it's a through route rather than an out-and-back, making every mile feel like you're discovering something new.
We drove the byway from east to west, camped on BLM land overlooking the massive Morenci Mine, and explored a few rough side roads along the way. While the main road was generally well graded during our visit, conditions can change quickly depending on weather, and some of the two-tracks branching off the route are much rougher.
Join us as we cross the Black Hills, take in the views, and experience one of Arizona's lesser-known scenic drives.
Have you driven the Black Hills Back Country Byway? Let us know in the comments!

Can you take your RV on a ferry? Yep — and we've done it in the U.S., Canada, and even New Zealand. 🚐⛴️
From quick river crossings to big ocean ferries, it's usually doable, but there are a few things to know before you roll aboard: your height, total length, sometimes your weight, and almost always your propane setup.
Sometimes a ferry is the only way forward. Other times it just saves a bunch of driving. Either way, there's something pretty fun about taking your house on a boat.

Thirsty birdy! 💦

This curved-bill thrasher was hanging around while we filled our freshwater tank at Elephant Butte Lake State Park. On a guess that it was waiting for us to leave to get a drink from some of the water spillage, I offered it a bowl of water! We were in sight of the lake, so I don’t think water scarcity is a problem here, it seemed more like a opportunist thing ☺️

While admittedly not the prettiest bird we’ve seen, it has a magnificent song. 🎶
