Hatch, New Mexico: where the chiles are legendary, the burritos are mandatory, and every shop is a rainbow of colorful ceramics. 🌶️🌯🎨

We followed one of New Mexico's most underrated scenic drives — from the Very Large Array and Highway 52, through Cibola National Forest, onto the Geronimo Trail Scenic Byway, and up to Emory Pass in the Gila National Forest.
This route packs in so much of what makes New Mexico fascinating: radio astronomy, Apache history, old mining towns, hot springs, desert basins, and high mountain forest — all within a relatively short stretch of road.
It's the kind of drive that reminds us why we love taking the slower route. Every curve seems to reveal a new layer of the landscape.
Have you driven the Geronimo Trail Scenic Byway?

How I added a manual override to our engine fan on our 2012 Ram 6.7, This truck likes to run warm on us when temps are higher and climbing, also when stationary without good airflow. My fix is a manual full-fan engagement switch. I can now engage the fan before the engine starts getting warm and it has stayed cool ever since. NOTE: If you want to do this you are powering the ECU circuit directly so i cannot guarantee it also sets a check engine light, I fused it at .5A and its been working well for about 6 months without issue.

At this point, boondocking has honestly spoiled us: there’s nothing like waking up in the morning, looking out the window, and realizing you’ve got a million-dollar view all to yourself. 🏜️

How do we get 25% better fuel economy? Just by taking the backroads and driving slower.... ok, we're actually driving slower on the interstate too, but high-profile vehicles benefit even more from slower speeds, that's all of our campers! It's just more fun too!

Q&A: Mike Sokol, Battle Born Batteries CEO Set Record Straight

The following comes to us from industry electricity expert Mike Sokol. Link to full story in comments

I originally reached out to Dragonfly Energy (maker of Battle Born Batteries) a few months ago after a number of my readers at RVelectricity.SubStack.com asked me to investigate if there was a design flaw with Battle Born Batteries that could cause them to overheat in their RVs. After a few in-depth conversations with Dragonfly Energy’s Founder and CEO, Dr. Denis Phares, I asked for a written interview.

We finally made it to White Sands National Park after having it on our list for over 10 years… and it was absolutely worth the wait.

What surprised us most? These dunes aren't made of regular sand at all they're made of gypsum, which is part of what makes White Sands such a strange and beautiful place. The glowing white dunes, the cool feel underfoot, the crunchy, crystallized basin areas, the way plants and wildlife adapt out there… it's one of the most unique landscapes we've ever visited.

On the blog, we're sharing what makes White Sands so special, and what to know before you go.

White Sands feels like snow in the desert, but its dunes are actually gypsum. Here’s why this park is so unique and how to make the most of a visit.
