"A surreal experience! Our Laughton Glacier excursion was truly incredible, with spectacular scenery on the White Pass Railroad. Austin shared fascinating insights about the environment as we walked through the forest and onto the ice.

Best yet, our tour included gourmet sandwiches and hot chocolate at the top!"

"Austin did an amazing job with the Laughton Glacier hike, and his passion shows. He's incredibly meticulous with his preparation, and the information he provided about the glacier and plant life was incredibly informative.

He had everything critical in his pack and fun surprises like hot chocolate while we ate lunch on the glacier. Seeing a bear was a nice, unexpected add-on, too."

“Austin was an amazing guide. He far exceeded our expectations and shared so much about the glacier's movement. Lunch on the glacier is a core memory for our family; no one else was in sight. We hiked about 11mi with our athletic 11 & 13 yo, and the surprise snacks for our girls were a huge bonus.”

Step into the Tongass National Forest, the largest temperate rainforest in North America, and a true climate hero. This lush, emerald world acts as a massive natural carbon sink, playing a crucial role in protecting our planet's future. 🏔️

On our hikes, your guide brings this vibrant ecosystem to life, pointing out:
🌿 Ancient guardians: centuries-old Sitka spruce and Western hemlock.
💧 Thriving biodiversity: a rich tapestry of life from forest floor to canopy
🌫️ Unique systems: how coastal weather and mountain terrain create this special environment.

We don't just hike through this landscape; we learn how to become its protectors.

The Laughton Glacier is a river of ice, constantly moving and changing. While it may look still, it's alive with geological activity. 🏞️

Here’s what’s happening:
❄️ The Glacier's journey: Laughton Glacier flows down from the Coast Mountains under its own immense weight. This slow-motion river carves the landscape, carrying rocks and grinding bedrock into fine silt, which turns the nearby rivers a milky turquoise.

❄️ Reading the ice: those deep cracks you see are crevasses, formed as the glacier moves over uneven terrain. You might also spot moulins' vertical shafts that funnel meltwater from the surface all the way down to the base of the ice.

❄️ Climate record: the ice you walk on is centuries old. Each layer of snow compressed into ice tells a story about the climate from that year, making glaciers like Laughton a frozen archive of Earth's history.

Imagine this: your day starts with a helicopter soaring over the Sawtooth Mountains, landing you deep in the heart of the Tongass National Forest, a place few ever get to explore. ❄️

From there, you’ll step into a world of towering evergreens, rugged trails, and glacier-carved valleys.

And just when you think it can’t get any better, you’ll return on the historic White Pass & Yukon Route Railway, watching waterfalls and mountain vistas unfold outside your window.

Every moment is thoughtfully planned. All you need to do is breathe it in. 🏞️
