We begin with a scenic journey aboard the White Pass & Yukon Route Railway, passing waterfalls and learning Klondike Gold Rush history. ๐Ÿš‚

Your hike starts at Glacier Station, leading you through an old-growth rainforest valley alongside the raging Skagway River. Keep your eyes peeled for moose, bear, and mountain goats! ๐Ÿป

The grand finale? Walking on the ancient ice of the Laughton Glacier itself, exploring crevasses and moulins. Refuel with a made-to-order sandwich and hot drinks right on the glacier, followed by our traditional "Bush Buffet" back at the trailhead. ๐Ÿ”๏ธ

With small groups of just six guests per guide, all gear provided, and every detail handled, your only job is to make memories.

"A surreal experience! Our Laughton Glacier excursion was truly incredible, with spectacular scenery on the White Pass Railroad. Austin shared fascinating insights about the environment as we walked through the forest and onto the ice.

Best yet, our tour included gourmet sandwiches and hot chocolate at the top!"

"Austin did an amazing job with the Laughton Glacier hike, and his passion shows. He's incredibly meticulous with his preparation, and the information he provided about the glacier and plant life was incredibly informative.

He had everything critical in his pack and fun surprises like hot chocolate while we ate lunch on the glacier. Seeing a bear was a nice, unexpected add-on, too."

โ€œAustin was an amazing guide. He far exceeded our expectations and shared so much about the glacier's movement. Lunch on the glacier is a core memory for our family; no one else was in sight. We hiked about 11mi with our athletic 11 & 13 yo, and the surprise snacks for our girls were a huge bonus.โ€

Step into the Tongass National Forest, the largest temperate rainforest in North America, and a true climate hero. This lush, emerald world acts as a massive natural carbon sink, playing a crucial role in protecting our planet's future. ๐Ÿ”๏ธ

On our hikes, your guide brings this vibrant ecosystem to life, pointing out:
๐ŸŒฟ Ancient guardians: centuries-old Sitka spruce and Western hemlock.
๐Ÿ’ง Thriving biodiversity: a rich tapestry of life from forest floor to canopy
๐ŸŒซ๏ธ Unique systems: how coastal weather and mountain terrain create this special environment.

We don't just hike through this landscape; we learn how to become its protectors.

The Laughton Glacier is a river of ice, constantly moving and changing. While it may look still, it's alive with geological activity. ๐Ÿž๏ธ

Hereโ€™s whatโ€™s happening:
โ„๏ธ The Glacier's journey: Laughton Glacier flows down from the Coast Mountains under its own immense weight. This slow-motion river carves the landscape, carrying rocks and grinding bedrock into fine silt, which turns the nearby rivers a milky turquoise.

โ„๏ธ Reading the ice: those deep cracks you see are crevasses, formed as the glacier moves over uneven terrain. You might also spot moulins' vertical shafts that funnel meltwater from the surface all the way down to the base of the ice.

โ„๏ธ Climate record: the ice you walk on is centuries old. Each layer of snow compressed into ice tells a story about the climate from that year, making glaciers like Laughton a frozen archive of Earth's history.

Imagine this: your day starts with a helicopter soaring over the Sawtooth Mountains, landing you deep in the heart of the Tongass National Forest, a place few ever get to explore. โ„๏ธ

From there, youโ€™ll step into a world of towering evergreens, rugged trails, and glacier-carved valleys.

And just when you think it canโ€™t get any better, youโ€™ll return on the historic White Pass & Yukon Route Railway, watching waterfalls and mountain vistas unfold outside your window.

Every moment is thoughtfully planned. All you need to do is breathe it in. ๐Ÿž๏ธ

Built in 1898 during the Klondike Gold Rush peak, this "Scenic Railway of the World" represents an engineering marvel carved through treacherous mountains where thousands of stampeders once trudged toward dreams of fortune. ๐Ÿ›ค๏ธ

Your journey retraces the exact path where:
โ€ข Dreamers climbed the brutal "Dead Horse Trail," named for the 3,000+ pack animals that perished on these slopes.
โ€ข Engineers conquered impossible terrain with soaring trestles and dramatic cliffside tracks.
โ€ข History unfolded as prospectors carried their year's supplies up these same steep grades.

We bring these stories to life, sharing tales of resilience and adventure that transformed this landscape forever. ๐ŸŒฒ

These immense rivers of ice flow incrementally, carving deep U-shaped valleys and grinding mountains into fine silt over millennia. Their intense blue color appears because ancient, densely packed ice absorbs every color of the spectrum except blue, which it reflects back to our eyes.

Glaciers are not just frozen scenery; they are the powerful architects of Alaska. โ„๏ธ

Walking with our guides, you'll learn to read the glacier's story written in the landscape from the polished bedrock it leaves behind to the towering moraines that mark its historical reach. ๐Ÿž๏ธ

This living ice doesn't just change the land; it teaches us about the immense forces that have shaped this wild place for thousands of years.
