It is that time of the year when the hummingbirds are out and humans get excited about seeing them and feeding them. Please be very wary purchasing hummingbird food. These little birds have very sensitive systems and many store bought foods are toxic to them. Here is a very simple recipe to make your own bird food at home that is safe for these delicate, amazing creatures.
1/2 c sugar
2 cups boiled water

Mix until dissolved. Cool completely and fill your bird feeders. Any extra can be stored in the fridge. If the water is cloudy, do not use. Make sure your feeder is cleaned every couple of days. Wash with soap and water. Pour hot boiled water over it to sterilize. Then refill, hang outside and watch the bird antics.
Let’s keep these amazing birds safe and well fed.

The ship leaves early and it’s a gorgeous day in Skagway! Wanna get out of the valley for a minute? Take a trip across the fjord to B***o Creek Lodge for our LOCAL’S DAY!!! Round trip boat transportation is $20 per person. A Crab Boil meal is available for $20 per person. Drinks available for purchase at the Lodge. What a perfect way to spend your Sunday!!!
Please no dogs and no alcoholic beverages. Beer and wine are available for purchase at the Lodge.
