🌲 The Lake House on Bass — Full Circle Moment 🩵
I went into the closet at the Lake House today and came across something that stopped me in my tracks — our original master to-do list from when we first started turning this place into a vacation rental.
It’s about four feet long, filled from top to bottom with every imaginable project — deep cleaning, painting, fixing floors, patching walls, replacing door handles, organizing, decluttering, you name it. It was the list that once felt so long and impossible… and yet here we are, two busy summer seasons later, on the other side of it.
Looking at it now, with stars and cross-offs all over the page, I couldn’t help but smile. What once felt like a mountain became our roadmap — and it led us here: to a place that’s full of life, laughter, and memories.
We’ve welcomed so many families, girls’ weekends, anniversaries, birthdays, and “just-because” getaways, and each one has brought something special. Our guest book is filled with stories that truly warm our hearts — you can feel how much joy this place has brought people, and that means everything to us. It is the why behind all of this!
We’re especially thankful for our returning guests, and it’s amazing to see our three-year goal coming to life with so many re-renters already booking again. Our hope is to keep this space special, peaceful, and affordable — a place where people can truly connect.
And for future me — when I look back on this post next spring — there are still two things left on that list:
🪞 Paint the doors & Spray the hinges
Because some things can wait a little while longer. 😉
Feeling so grateful today for how far we’ve come, for everyone who’s stayed, for those who all chip in from the beginning to those who jump in now when I am planning for the next guest, and mostly for the joy this little house has brought to so many. 💙🏡
