Late August in Alaska is such a funny time of year.

It can be sunny, warm, and absolutely gorgeous outside, and somehow the conversation still turns immediately to firewood, heating fuel, tires, and how ready everyone is for winter. 😂

Because around here, enjoying summer and mentally preparing for the next season definitely happen at the exact same time. If you know, you know. 🤪

IT’S BACK!!! 💚✨ Aurora season has officially returned to Alaska and I am ridiculously excited about it!

After months of bright summer nights, seeing those green ribbons dancing across the sky again this past weekend felt SO GOOD.

Of course, this also means the return of checking the sky at midnight, running outside half dressed, and telling myself, “I’ll only stay out for five minutes.” 😂

There’s a funny thing about Alaska: you can have a list a mile long, work your tail off all day, and still look around at some point and think…well, being here was kind of the whole point anyway. 😂

The chores will get done. The wood will get stacked. The food will get packed. But every once in a while, you have to actually enjoy the place you worked so hard to get to.

Date night in Alaska: just the two of you…for approximately 12 minutes. 🤣

Then someone you know walks in. Then someone else. Then another table waves you over. Before you know it, chairs are being pulled together and your quiet dinner has turned into a full-blown community gathering.

Small-town Alaska has a way of doing that. ❤️
