We’re standing at one of the most symbolic “centers of Rome”, the Piazza del Campidoglio on Capitoline Hill — the historic civic heart of the city.
The pavement beneath us is Michelangelo’s 16-point star design (1560s). It represents Rome as the center of the world radiating outward — visually echoing the idea that all roads lead to Rome.

One of our favorite stops this trip was a visit to a rural mozzarella di bufala farm. We learned all about the farm, how to make mozzarella, fed a bottle to a 16 day old calf and enjoyed a wonderful cheese tasting! Fun fact! Did you know, Provolone means bad try! Provolone is made when the water from the mozzarella is not hot enough.

Monte Cassino Abbey- a historic Benedictine monastery in central Italy, founded by St. Benedict in 529 CE. It was repeatedly destroyed—most notably during World War II—and rebuilt, symbolizing resilience and the endurance of monastic tradition.

Some of our favorite moments on tour is watching our students interact with local kids and the culture. This time we were lucky to catch some kids playing soccer in the park and enjoying the Carnival parade!
