Looking to book a houseboat this summer? Here are some beginner tips:

1. Book earlier than you think because summer weekends fill up fast. Call ahead, ask what's included.

2. Pack heavy! Houseboats are roomy, and you'll want everything on board — extra sunscreen, water shoes, more food and drinks than feels reasonable, and a good playlist. There's no such thing as overpacking on a houseboat.

3. Find your cove. The magic of Lake Cumberland isn't the marina, it's dropping anchor in a quiet cove with 1,255 miles of shoreline to choose from. Ask the marina staff where locals like to go. They'll point you in the right direction.

His dedication has played a meaningful role in helping grow and support tourism throughout our area.

While we are sad to see him step off the board, we are incredibly grateful for his time served and his contributions to tourism of Pulaski County he has made.
