The winding two-lane road meanders across ten miles of western Sonoma County, through vineyards, orchards, dairy pastures, redwood groves, and the micro-towns of Occidental, Freestone, and Monte Rio. It crosses the Russian River, which flows lazily – or crazily, depending on the time of year – to the Pacific Ocean.
