✨Three Days. Two States. One Unforgetable Rail Journey✨
Sara took the Rockies to Red Rocks rail experience with Canyon Spirit and it did not disappoint. Here's her recap and a peek at what she saw, ate, and wore along the way. 🚂🏔️
Day 1 Denver ➡️ Glenwood Springs
My day started with a walk from the stunning Hotel Indigo straight to Union Station and the energy on the platform was palpable. Smart casual outfits, excited faces and the moment the train pulled in, just wow! We toasted the journey with mimosas and spent the day winding through towering granite cliffs, rushing waters and more tunnels than you could count (you’ll have to go to find out the exact number 😉). We even spotted some baby elk! As the hours passed, the landscape shifted from rugged Rocky Mountain wilderness to something a little redder, a little drier and completely mesmerizing. Our first night was spent in the charming historic town of Glenwood Springs. 🌲➡️🏜️
Day 2 Glenwood Springs ➡️ Moab
Moab bound! This day delivered badlands, hoodoos, stunning red rock formations and my personal favorite, prong horns! Every meal on board is expertly crafted and when possible locally sourced and lunch on this day may have been the best thing I’ve ever eaten: a trout sandwich on ciabatta with pesto and local cheddar. And the short ribs were so local that we actually passed the farm that they were from 🐄! Arriving in Moab, I hopped on a motor coach to explore Canyonlands National Park and no photo will ever do it justice. Standing on the edge of those sculpted vistas is humbling in the best possible way. History buffs, you are going to love learning about the areas fascinating uranium mining past. 🌵
Day 3 Moab ➡️ Salt Lake City
One last morning on the train. This leg wound past ghost towns and wide open landscapes as we slowly made our way back to civilization. I stepped off the train relaxed, recharged and I already miss it! 🫶
If you’re looking for a truly unique way to discover the American West, this is it! Thank you for creating something so special!
