Let’s go on December 17th for one last time! It has been part of our tour schedule for almost 20 years. And before that with other companies that I worked for! Great memories were made, and looking forward to being there one last time! Who would like to join us?

THE FINAL ACT — AFTER 43 UNFORGETTABLE YEARS

To our Newport Playhouse family,

It is with a very heavy heart that I share that The Newport Playhouse & Cabaret Restaurant will officially close its doors on December 31, 2026.

But we’re not finished yet.

We still have several months of performances ahead of us, audiences to entertain, stories to tell and laughter to fill this building. We hope everyone who has considered the Newport Playhouse part of their lives will join us during these final months as we celebrate 43 remarkable years together.

When we opened in August 1983, I was an eighteen-year-old kid who thought starting a small theater might be a fun hobby until I figured out what I wanted to do when I grew up.

I had no idea it would become virtually my entire adult life.

Over the next 43 years, the Newport Playhouse became far more than a theater or restaurant. It became a family.

Many of you knew my father, Matt Siravo. He served as performer, director, producer, leader, mentor, friend and guiding light. I had the extraordinary privilege of working alongside him for 32 years, and I can still hear his voice guiding me today. His spirit will forever be part of this place.

My own life unfolded within these walls. I welcomed five beautiful children during these years, and one of my greatest joys was holding each of them on our stage and introducing them to our Playhouse family.

We built hundreds of sets, presented thousands of performances, wrote thousands of cabaret skits and probably rolled millions of meatballs.

But those aren’t the things I’ll remember most.

I’ll remember the people.

The actors who found a home on our stage. The employees who became family. The friendships created backstage and across dinner tables. And the generations of guests who celebrated with us and eventually returned with their children and grandchildren.

Through floods, equipment failures, renovations, changing times and even a worldwide pandemic, somehow “The Little Theater That Could” kept going.

As I look back, what makes me proudest isn’t the number of shows we produced. It’s knowing that for more than four decades, people walked through our doors, shared a meal, laughed together and left feeling a little better than when they arrived.

To our customers, employees, actors, musicians, directors, technicians and everyone who became part of this family: thank you. There would never have been a Newport Playhouse without you.

So during these final months, please come back. See a show. Bring an old friend. Share your Playhouse stories. And help us celebrate 43 years of laughter, friendship, family and live theater.

There will be tears when that final curtain comes down, but there should also be tremendous pride.

Very few small theaters get to tell a story that lasts more than four decades.

We did. And we could never have done it without you.

Thank you for believing in “The Little Theater That Could.”

Thank you for being part of our family.

And thank you for 43 unforgettable years.

On December 31st, we’ll take one last bow.

With love and deep appreciation,
Jonathan Perry

Good morning travel family! We have just returned from visiting Iceland. It was truly an unforgettable journey. Each road we traveled offered a unique experience. It’s hard to capture the true beauty of Iceland in pictures, but we wanted to share a few with you. And while the chances of seeing the northern lights is lower in August, some were so fortunate to see this natural phenomenon on our last night. We can’t thank everyone enough that joined us, and the memories we made together will never ever be forgotten. Please feel free to share some of your beautiful pictures here with us. Iceland is a beautiful country in both winter and summer.
