Hello All,
Sail Freeport Maine will not be operating during 2021
Good luck and stay safe!

Hi Folks. Please be safe and respectful of others. ... If you are visiting Maine, from “away”or you are from within Maine, please be extra careful, because you might feel great, but, if you are infected and feel great, you might kill someone you infect. Have some respect.. wear a mask, self-quarantine. Be careful, respectful and safe. Sail Freeport Maine will forego this season of adventures. Loss of dollars. Yes. But. It simply does not seem safe to cluster all you wonderful folks within the close quarters of beautiful S.V. Grace. Please be safe and respectful of others.

Hello Folks, Grace is up "on the hard," stored in her boat shed, so we can work on her this winter in Maine. We have a long list of projects, including replacing worn parts of our 39 year old stout lady and some fun upgrades. Having logged lots of sea miles up and down the East Coast during several winter trips and many summer trips in Maine, she calls for attention! Work has been taking place. That is, when it is warm enough! We simply do NOT go out other than to pat her bow, say hello and check on her well-being, when it is 2 degrees outside! We're looking forward to some fun upgrades and repairs. It is a bit of a list! Our goal is to be on the water in Northern Casco Bay this summer and to sail south, to the Bahamas, this fall and winter if our cruising kitty allows. I think fondly of you, our guests, from each of our years doing charters; sailing, motoring, stopping to swim or watch seals, doing history or geology tours, having meals and watching the moon rise. We have enjoyed what you have added to our life aboard Grace. We are looking forward to this coming summer. For now, brrrrrr.!!! best, David and Nancy

Grace is headed south!

Whew! Great trips out on Northern Casco Bay! Most importantly, wonderful and interesting guests aboard Grace!

Learning about the publishing industry, teaching in public schools in Manhattan (hopeful stories), about the magazine industry, economics, home schooling, raising kids and working to remain vibrant while being a stay at home mom, international finance, professional photography, coordination of computer manufacturing, engineering and installation of large scale HVAC and mechanical systems, as well as movie producing, wilderness camping and much more. So you thought sailing on Northern Casco Bay was only about birds and seals? HA! Best job possible meeting the best people!

Thank you for all the positive comments, and Thank you to all I mentioned and to many, many more for visiting Grace. We are having the best time taking folks out, sharing Northern Casco Bay and learning of people's lives.

It continues to be a great summer of sailing. Here is a picture from our visit to one place we know to go to see seals

The season is underway! Great shakedown trips this week, including charter yesterday thanks to friends Stephen and Nancy who brought their friends for an afternoon 4+ hour cruise, which included seeing Casco Bay Islands, stop for snacks and exploration at the Gosling Islands. When there was no wind, we effortlessly explored using the motor (hence:motorsailer) viewing islands, seeing seals, herons and seals. On the way homeward, we sailed when the winds were favorable. When a rain squall came up, everyone tucked into the pilothouse to enjoy the view through all the windows, except the young crew who reveled in ducking from rain on the aft deck. Finally, headed back to harbor we almost got sun and a rainbow. "Next time! Reports from the two under-12 crew, "Awesome!" From adults, a hearty, "Thank you!" Great fun!

Grace, at home, for upkeep and upgrades. What a great 9 months of travel and return to Maine waters. A few weeks of cleaning and upgrades and the summer of exploring begins.

Almost immediately upon return, in May, we took folks out for a trip on Casco Bay. Watched momma seals and their pups fish, then lounge on ledges and pups nuzzle up for breast feeding and warmth. What a beautiful place to return home to! Northern Casco Bay.

Grace sits patiently on mooring, while we prep for her trip to come onto land to renew bottom paint and spruce up..
Then back in water for a summer of trips throughout Casco Bay and beyond.
