Tahoe Tastings and the Golden Rose are proud to bring our guests on not only a tour of Lake Tahoe, but also a tour through Northern California wineries! On your tour, you will start with a glass of bubbly to begin your journey. Next, you will taste 8 different wines, including both whites and reds. Included in the tasting will be wine from the world-famous Napa Valley but also wines from Placer, N

evada, Amador, El Dorado, Monterrey counties and the Central Valley. We will have bottles available to purchase at the end of your trip to enjoy during your stay in Lake Tahoe or to take home to add to the rest of your collection. All of this, will be on a semi-private tour aboard the one-of-a-kind vintage Golden Rose, the 1953 Chris Craft Venetian Water Taxi docked at the Tahoe Keys Marina.

“Dry” might be the most misunderstood word in wine.

It doesn’t mean bitter.
It doesn’t mean bold.
It doesn’t mean boring.

It simply means low sugar.

A wine can taste juicy, fruity, even tropical, and still be completely dry.

Most dry wines contain just 1-4 grams of sugar per liter, which is less sugar than many everyday foods.

The drying sensation people notice?

That usually comes from tannin or acidity.

Different things. Different sensations.

Happy International Riesling Day!

Riesling has been around for nearly 600 years, first documented in Germany’s Rhine region in 1435. Today it’s grown all over the world and produces some of the most expressive white wines.

One of the biggest misconceptions about Riesling is that it’s always sweet. In reality, many styles are completely dry or off-dry, with vibrant acidity and incredible balance.

Next time you see Riesling on a wine list, don’t assume it’s sweet, you might discover a new favorite. We like to pair to pair a dry Riesling with a creamy brie.

Ten seasons, countless sunsets, and thousands of glasses raised aboard the Golden Rose. What a journey it has been! Tahoe Tastings began as a simple idea: to bring the best boutique California wine to Lake Tahoe. Ten summers later, that dream has grown into a family, a floating wine adventure, and a community of incredible guests who have shared in every moment along the way.

To celebrate the close of our 10th season, we took our incredible crew south of the border to experience another world-class wine region: Valle de Guadalupe in Baja, Mexico.

Each year, we invest in hands-on wine education for our team so they can share stories, flavors, and experiences straight from the vineyards to your glass. This trip was all about expanding our palates, deepening our appreciation, and celebrating the people who make Tahoe Tastings what it is.
