We hit up the Denville Garlic Festival this weekend 🧄tho it could have been called the Incidental Garlic Fest… 🙊we came away satisfied and having basked in some beautiful blue skies and sunshine.

Brunch alert! 🥪🍓If you make it past the gauntlet of mouthwatering baked goods behind the counter at the Palestinian fusion neighborhood staple , congrats! you should reward yourself with —

🍽️stacked French toast dusted with powdered sugar and crushed pistachio. + rose water whipped cream, raspberries, and maple butter syrup on the side. Sweet, tart, fluffy, a+ 🧐

🍽️ classic egg, cheddar, & pork sausage 🍳🧀sammie on sourdough with “saltpepperketchup” of course. Jackie’s sammie game is known to insiders, but hey, now you’re an insider 😉

Owners Jackie Podhurst & husband Jake weathered the pandemic in their current location and by all accounts their restaurant is thriving. I for one am pumped for the Podhursts’ new bakery, Jake & Daughters, which is allegedly opening up directly next door. Stay tuned. Those blueberry scones (not pictured) are dying for the spotlight!

Chef Jeff doesn’t pull any punches. He curates the highest quality ingredients with the pedigree of a classically trained expert 👨‍🍳(after all, he left his post as the farm-to-table instructor at the French Culinary Institute of NY to open Butler & the Board).

After hosting two great tours of the neighborhood and being welcomed so graciously by the team at , we are looking forward to our next visit already, though it’s going to be hard to beat our VIP tasting of Chef Dan Drohan’s impressive new menu at The Splendid Rooftop. The food:

🍽️mini heirloom caprese salad
🍽️olive oil copetta, an addictively sweet and light Italian dessert
🍽️a splash of champagne to celebrate

A fantastic group attended our first ever Food Crawl & Historic Homes Tour of Montclair, co-hosted by the phenomenal ! It was a pleasure to get to know everyone and share the best foods and facts of this great neighborhood.

The James Howe House was undoubtedly a highlight, thanks to the who welcomed us for a VIP walk through of this incredible historic site.
