The largest Outdoor, Permanent Sandcastle in the USA is on South Padre Island, Texas. The Island is unofficially known as the "Sandcastle Capital of the World" because of the fine quality of sand and the number of people that have had lessons over the past 30 years! This castle is made of River sand and weighs in at a hefty 150 tons. The 2nd part of the build was started in oct 2015 after the orig

inal was created in oct 2013. Artist Andy Hancock is a former American Sand Sculpture Champion who believes that Bigger is better when trying to attract new visitors to South Padre.
