North Fork Adventures Charters is excited to announce a new partnership for the 2026 season with Rig Mate pre-tied dropper loops!

Last year, while doing some late-night scrolling, I came across this product and was intrigued enough to give it a try. I picked up a spool—and honestly, it turned out to be a complete game changer.

Running charters means a lot of prep work behind the scenes, especially tying rigs before each trip. I used to spend hours just tying dropper loops before I could even start building the rig. With Rig Mate’s pre-tied loops (available in a variety of line tests), that prep time has been cut down dramatically.

Now I can build a fresh rig or swap one out during a trip in about half the time it used to take—keeping lines in the water and maximizing fishing time for my customers.

If you’re looking to save time and simplify your setup, definitely check them out: https://www.rigmate.com/

This one’s a true game changer.

It’s still a bit early, but I went down and gave the boat a good scrub, and got her ready for charters. Charters start May 1. I’ll be doing a bit of prospecting next week to see what’s around. Stay tuned …….

Almost there! Bled the steering today, pulled the boat out from the building and ran the engines. All is ready for a Thursday launch. Lots of work over the winter, engine maintenance, new radar install, and some other tweaks to the boat to make her the perfect vessel for a great charter season. Spring dates are still available, so give a call and book a trip : 516-662-6382. Stay tuned for launch day.

Bottom paint - the worst job in boating. I got it done today. Test fire the engines, and a general cleanup, and next week we will launch. I'm looking forward to an exciting season, so give a call and book a trip. I've got some great dates open for spring bass, and early season bay action.

Final Chapter: Radar Install Complete!
What started as a project has turned into a full transformation—and we’re finally at the finish line. From tearing out the old system to fabricating new mounting plates, refinishing the mast, running wiring, installing a splitter, and bringing it all together… every step has been worth it. This upgrade isn’t just about gear—it’s about safer, smarter days on the water. With spring fog right around the corner, having reliable radar will make those early-season bass trips smoother and more productive than ever.
If you’ve been following along, I hope you got a real look at what goes into maintaining and upgrading the boats we rely on all season long. Now it’s time to put it to work.
Spots are filling up fast—reach out and book your charter for this season!

Back at it with boat maintenance. In this and a subsequent video, I'll show you how I change out the water pumps on my Yamaha outboards. This takes place every three hundred hours per the manufacturer's maintenance schedule.

More Yamaha maintenance. As I do this every off season, it allows me to hopefully run without issues all season. This episode I change fuel filters, check prop seals, and diagnose zincs. Being a charter captain means you don't just go fishing, but you become a boat mechanic also - as your boat is your most important tool.
