***2/15/26 Update: Lease pending**

New build, year round, pet friendly, 2br/1ba apartment set back off Main St in Southwest Harbor across from the marina.

~650sq.ft, 2 bedroom (including loft) chalet style apartment with ocean views from the main floor and loft bedrooms. Vaulted ceilings with skylights, radiant floor heat, heat pump/AC, laundry hook up, and very large deck with covered parking underneath plus 1 more parking spot in the driveway. The garage is for the owner and not part of the unit.

Construction started 5 weeks ago and completion is planned for April 1st to May 1st, 2026. There is an option to move into our 4br/1.5ba furnished winter rental next door while construction is being finished starting immediately.

Radiant floor heat, limited WiFi, trash removal, water/sewer, and plowing included. Tenant pays their own electricity and higher speed internet if desired. $2200/mo when the $200 on-time cash discount is applied. Ideal situation would be to rent to quiet, non roommate couple, that are working on the Quietside or at least MDI.

Locally owned and operated with year round owners sharing the driveway next door. Happy Black Lab visits to be expected. More pictures to come as progress is made.

The park is still open including reservations to Cadillac. We have very few openings but still have the 20-23rd available in our 4 br unit Breakwater, and 27-31 available in both our 3br unit Osprey Nest and Breakwater!

UPDATE TO CADILLAC MOUNTAIN OPERATIONS via Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce.

Cadillac Mountain Reservations

Cadillac Mountain will be resuming its normal operations tomorrow (Friday, October 3) and will reopen to vehicle reservations.
All existing reservations will be honored.
Vehicle reservations can be made at recreation.gov.

Below is what we know at this moment. Friends of Acadia has created a webpage that is planned to be regularly updated as the shutdown progresses, with information that can be shared publicly. Please note that this information is subject to change, and we will update you as things progress.

Park Operations During the Shutdown

Staffing: Most park employees will be furloughed. Acadia National Park will operate with a limited "skeleton crew" necessary for essential operations and public safety.

Trails and Carriage Roads: Will remain open to visitors.

Park Campgrounds: Will remain open to visitors.

Visitor Centers: Hulls Cove Visitor Center and Sieur de Monts Nature Center are closed.

Acadia Gateway Center: Will be open and staffed by the Maine Tourism Association, but no park staff will be present.

Island Explorer: The Island Explorer will continue to run normal routes through October 13th (the originally scheduled 2025 end of service date) on the fall schedule.

Facilities & Services:

Trash and Restrooms: Will generally remain open and maintained on a relatively normal schedule.

Park Loop Road: Will remain open.

Commercial Operations: Wildwood Stables and Jordan Pond House will continue to operate as they are run by concessionaires.

Programs: Educational and ranger programs will be paused.

Permitted Events: Events for which permits have already been issued that do not require park staff will be allowed to continue.

Gift Shops: Gift shops located at Thunder Hole, Jordan Pond, and Acadia Gateway Center will remain open.

Entrance Fees:

The Sand Beach Entrance Station is open but unstaffed. Visitors can currently enter the park without a park pass.

*****Important Note on Park Passes*****
Third-party vendors are not restricted from selling park passes at this time. The Bar Harbor Chamber is a vendor and will continue to sell our current supply of passes at our Visitor Information Center (corner of Cottage Street and Main Street).

How Buying a Pass Helps: Park pass fees are being used to help sustain Acadia's operations during this time and support keeping the park open to the public. Buying a park pass helps continue to support these operations.

The Bar Harbor Chamber Visitor Information Center is open seven days a week from 8 am to 4 pm. Passes available are: $20 weekly individual (walking/biking), $35 weekly vehicle, and $70 annual Acadia National Park passes.

We ask that you and your staff share the following general guidelines with visitors to help preserve the park and ensure a positive experience during this time:

Be Patient with Rangers: Acadia is operating with a very limited staff during the busy fall foliage season. Please be patient and respectful of their reduced capacity.

Follow "Look Out for ME" Principles: The Maine Office of Tourism has expanded on the Leave No Trace principles. It is crucial for everyone to do their part to maintain the beauty and integrity of the park with minimal staff available.

Main Street Southwest Harbor overlooking the marina and walkable to a dozen restaurants. We had a 3 week booking cancel recently that opened our entire September starting 9/6. We've booked 1 weekend already but have dropped prices due to the last minute availability.

For anyone thinking about moving to Mount Desert Island after a great summer vacation, I recommend seeing how you like our late fall, winter and spring.

We have 2 turn key units available off Main St in Southwest Harbor for Nov 1 2025 - April 30th, 2026 +/- a week or so.

The property is on Main St. Southwest Harbor, ME overlooking the marina. Walkable to several year round businesses including restaurants, pharmacy, hardware store, community center with gym, etc.
