Bulls like this make the 30 year wait worth while.
If you know the Herbert crew you’ll know that they are more than acquainted with giant elk.

One of our bowhunters turned this bull up during the first weeks of the rut and named this bull Harry. Harry had a red mane and long red hair dropping down the back of his front legs. It reminded him of the Bigfoot in ‘Harry and the Henderson’s’ movie. Needless to say, this bull made it through archery…but the Herbert’s made quick work of him the opener of muzzy season.

Congrats crew!! Harry is nothing short of a giant Sasquatch!!

Heath Holdaway didn’t call me to book a guide for his elk tag. He called to let me know he was hunting with the Bradfords this muzzy season. I kinda laughed, but quickly learned the statement wasn’t a joke and plans already in motion.

Loved having this crew in camp.

Heath held out. Passed a lot of good bulls knowing that when the right one stepped out he’d know it. That he did. Perfect shot, perfect bull, perfect guide. Nicely done crew. Bennett Bradford

James Reese!!!
Lots to say about this tag. More to say about this bull.
But I could write a novel about this guy.. Bennett Bradford

Icon walked in and killed an icon…with a bow!! (Bro next time prop your Hoyt Archery Inc. in the pic). Bennet I couldn’t be happier or prouder of you. He dialed in and (once again)killed the oldest bull walking the unit.

IMO, age trumps. Trumps a score sheet, body size, or any award handed out at some hunting convention. When you kill an elk over 14 years old you’ve really honed your craft. Bennett couldn’t even turn in a tooth report because all this bull had left was 2 brown nubs that closer resembled pearls than the lower incisors of an elk. OLD.

Reese was named by Brian Call when he had a tag a few years back. He’s been a hard bull to keep tabs on. Roams the plateau and really doesn’t call any particular area home. In fact, Bennett killed him so far from his trailcam shots he didn’t recognize what bull he’d shot until a few hours after he was dead (thanks Hunter McGuire ). I was in the middle of sheep country, literally worried I was having a stroke when I got the text he’d tagged out. But all that is a story for another day.

This is my nephew Carson Stevens and his 2026 opening day Desert Ram!!

After 3 days in the bivvy we kicked up this ram. From there we called in Aaron Jensen and put together a play. First light me and Carson dropped in to get as close as we could to where we’d last seen the ram leaving Aaron and Dane on point to walk us in. After spotting the ram we headed his way only to have him step over a hoodoo and stare at us under 13 yards. Caught with our pants down, he ran. We set up for another shot while he moved further and further away. At 720 yards he finally stopped to look back and Carson anchored him with the Best of the West r***e. I’m still completely blow away by the shot.

We call the ram ‘Sub 20’
I’m so proud of these boys. Proud of my team.
It couldn’t have happened without Aaron, and would have taken 2 more days to get out without the help of Jayden Bull Mountain Outfitters Can’t thank you guys enough.
Carson congrats on a giant Desert ram. Thank you for letting me tag along.

Weston Poulson and his 2026 archery bull.

Wes teamed up with guide Bull Mountain Outfitters and chased some of the best bulls on the unit. While his target bull gave us the slip, him and Jayden chased some giants!! Including the giant on slide 3. Wes and his Dad were great to have in camp. Amazing attitude, hard working, and dropped this elk like every bowhunter dreams!! Didn’t go 80 yards. Love it.

So pumped for you man. Thank you Wes

I’m really excited to run the Island again with JJ and the DC team. It gets crazier, but it’s not my place to share other people’s wins gets to share his baggage if and when he wants

2026 will be off the chain or the death of me.
