Travel Stewardship

Today I attended a Focus Group regarding the increased negative impact of tourism here in my home town, Truckee. And let me tell you, I'm feeling the negative impacts! In fact, if you Google "traffic in Truckee" you'll find this as the top image - I'm parked right behind the white SUV with its door open (the driver felt that was the right time to change out of their ski gear :/ ) It took me 2.5 hours to drive home that day - a typical 8 minute drive.

In living in a place where tourism has a huge impact on the economy and the day to day life of the locals, I take that to heart when planning our guest's trips to Southeast Asia. It's important our company is a model for listening to and respecting the local people and culture, that our guests practice travel stewardship, and that the travel we plan has a positive impact locally. At Kaanect Travel, we're proud of our Travel Stewardship and what makes our guests so great to work with, is our guests are proud travel stewards.
