The Story Behind The Sparta Marketplace šŸ¤

As many of you know, my husband and I moved to Sparta almost 4 years ago with a dream on our hearts—to one day open a store in this special town. At the time, the timing just wasn’t right… but we never stopped praying about it.

Fast forward to 2026, and it feels like God has opened the door in the most perfect way.

We’re so excited to share that The Sparta Marketplace is coming to Historic Downtown Sparta!

Many of you are familiar with our other store, 44 Marketplace located near Lake Oconee on Hwy 44. After 12 amazing years, it has grown into a mixed marketplace filled with talented designers, artisans, and creatives who bring unique art, gifts, and accessories to our community.

That same spirit—that same creativity and passion—is exactly what we plan to bring to Sparta.

The Sparta Marketplace will be a sister store to 44 Marketplace, and many of your favorite vendors will be part of this new space as well. We can’t wait to create something truly special right here in downtown Sparta.

We’re still working through the timeline, but exciting details are coming soon…

✨ Be sure to follow along—you won’t want to miss what’s ahead!

We are truly looking forward to being part of this wonderful community. šŸ¤

This isn’t just a sign going up… it’s a sign that Sparta, Georgia is coming back to life ā¤ļø

Seeing Gracie Mae’s CafĆ© take its place on our downtown street just feels different. It’s hope. It’s growth. It’s something new to be proud of.
Small towns don’t thrive by accident—we thrive when we show up and support the people who are pouring into them.

So when those doors open, let’s be there. Let’s support Gracie Mae’s CafĆ© and all of our local businesses—because that’s how we keep Sparta moving forward.

Sparta may be small, but it’s been quietly making history for over 200 years. Founded in 1795, it’s one of Georgia’s oldest towns. These streets have seen horse-drawn carriages, Civil War soldiers, early automobiles, and now… us.
Every brick downtown has a story. Every porch has heard a thousand conversations.
There’s something special about living in a place that’s seen things and is still standing. šŸ’›

Meet the famous "twin houses" of Sparta, Georgia, both of them built in the 1830’s. The Sayre-Shivers house and the Bird-Campbell house are both very handsome Federal-Greek Revival transitional houses that sit side by side on West Broad Street in the heart of Sparta, one of my favorite "old" towns,

Gotta love the Sparta Mercantile

We have had many requests for bottled water - but, staying true to our mission, I couldn’t get just any bottled water! Rain water is based in Tiger, GA - it is sustainably sourced from natural spring water - it gets colder faster and stays colder longer because it is packaged in aluminum bottles (with a BPA free liner) - and of course is recyclable šŸ˜‰
