🇲🇦✨ Lose Yourself in the Markets of Morocco ✨🇲🇦

One of my favorite parts of traveling through Morocco was wandering through the souks—the bustling markets tucked inside the winding medinas of cities like Marrakech and Fez.

Walking through a Moroccan souk is an experience for all the senses. 🧡

The scent of spices fills the air—cinnamon, cumin, saffron, and the famous ras el hanout. Colorful piles of spices sit beside baskets of olives, mountains of dates, dried fruits, and freshly made bread.

Then there are the treasures. ✨

Handwoven rugs hang from walls, leather goods are displayed in every shade imaginable, intricate lanterns cast beautiful patterns of light, and beautiful ceramics, jewelry, textiles, and handmade crafts compete for your attention.

And, of course, there is the art of haggling! In the souks, bargaining is part of the experience. It’s not just about the price—it’s a social interaction, a little bit of theater, and sometimes a lot of laughter. 😄

But what I loved most was simply getting lost in it all.

The narrow alleyways twist and turn, revealing something new around every corner. One minute you're surrounded by the sounds of merchants calling out to customers, and the next you've stumbled into a quiet little courtyard or found yourself sipping Moroccan mint tea.

Morocco's markets aren't just places to shop. They are places to experience the culture, meet people, taste something new, and slow down long enough to take it all in.

And sometimes, the best souvenir isn't what you bring home in your suitcase—it's the memory of getting wonderfully, completely lost along the way. ❤️🇲🇦

🌿🏔️ A Walk Through the North York Moors 🏔️🌿

There is something wonderfully wild about the **North York Moors National Park**. Rolling hills stretch toward the horizon, purple heather covers the landscape, stone walls wind through the countryside, and tiny villages seem to appear just when you think you're completely alone.

Established as a National Park in 1952, the North York Moors covers nearly 554 square miles of some of England’s most beautiful countryside. And while the scenery is reason enough to visit, this landscape is steeped in history.

Ancient monuments, medieval abbeys, historic villages, and old railway lines tell stories of the people who have called this area home for thousands of years. The moors were also shaped by centuries of farming, mining, and industry—leaving behind a landscape that feels both timeless and wonderfully untamed.

And then there is the heather. When it blooms across the moors, the hills seem to turn shades of purple and pink. 💜 It is one of those quintessentially English landscapes that makes you want to slow down, breathe in the fresh air, and simply enjoy the view.

For me, exploring places like the North York Moors is what travel is all about—not always rushing from one attraction to the next, but taking the time to wander, discover, and appreciate the beauty along the way.

✨ A Bucket List Adventure: Angkor Wat✨

After spending time living and working in Thailand, I knew I couldn’t be that close to Cambodia without making the journey to one of the places I had dreamed about seeing for years: Angkor Wat.

And let me tell you… it did NOT disappoint. ❤️

Built in the early 12th century by King Suryavarman II, Angkor Wat was originally constructed as a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Vishnu. Over time, it became a Buddhist temple and remains an important religious site today.

But Angkor Wat is more than just a temple. It was part of the enormous Khmer Empire, whose capital at Angkor was once one of the largest and most sophisticated urban centers in the world. The temple itself is famous for its incredible towers, enormous galleries, detailed bas-reliefs, and the massive moat surrounding the complex.

Standing there, surrounded by centuries of history, was almost impossible to put into words. The intricate carvings tell stories from Hindu mythology and Khmer history, while the architecture gives you a glimpse into the incredible skill and ambition of the people who built it.

And then there was the jungle.

Walking among ancient temples, massive stone walls, and trees that seem to be reclaiming the ruins is something I will never forget. 🌿

This wasn't simply another destination checked off my bucket list. It was one of those travel experiences that reminded me **why I fell in love with exploring the world in the first place**.

I had dreamed about seeing Angkor Wat, and sometimes the places you've imagined for years really do live up to the hype.

This one definitely did. 🌏✨

🌲✨Where the Mountains Meet the Sea: Olympic National Park✨🌊

There are places that make you stop, take a deep breath, and simply look around. Olympic National Park in Washington is one of them.

From misty, moss-covered rainforests to rugged Pacific beaches and snow-capped mountain peaks, Olympic feels like several different worlds tucked into one incredible park. 🌿🏔️🌊

Wander beneath towering trees in the Hoh Rain Forest, explore the dramatic coastline at Ruby Beach, or take in the breathtaking views of the Olympic Mountains. And just when you think you’ve seen it all, another trail, waterfall, lake, or viewpoint reminds you how wild and beautiful this corner of the country truly is.

It’s the kind of destination where the journey is just as memorable as the destination—and where you may find yourself slowing down, putting away your phone, and letting nature do the talking.

Every year, September 11th feels a little different when you work in tourism.

As a Tour Director, one of the hardest parts of my job is talking about history with people who weren’t there to experience it.

I’ve stood in front of groups of children and talked about September 11, 2001—explaining what happened, where I was, what the world felt like that day, and how much it changed us.

And then I realize something that stops me every time:

**These kids weren’t even born yet.**

To them, 9/11 can feel like something from a history book. Something that happened a long time ago, alongside events they’ve only ever learned about in school.

But for those of us who lived through it, we remember.

We remember where we were.
We remember the confusion.
We remember watching the television in disbelief.
We remember the silence that followed.
We remember the people who ran toward danger while everyone else was trying to get away.

And as a Tour Director, I feel a responsibility to tell that story—not to frighten the next generation, but to make sure they understand that these weren't just buildings, dates, and numbers.

**They were people. Families. First responders. Communities. Lives that were changed forever.**

When I tell the story, I sometimes wonder what it must be like for a child hearing it for the first time. To them, it really is ancient history.

But it isn't ancient history to us.

And maybe that's why telling these stories matters so much.

Because someday, there will be no one left who can say, *“I remember where I was.”*

Until then, we tell the stories.

We remember the lives.

And we will **never forget.** 🇺🇸

🍦 Ice Cream with a View? Yes, Please! 🚤

One of the sweetest surprises I discovered in York was The Full Moo—an adorable ice cream boat floating along the River Ouse. Because apparently, exploring a historic city isn’t complete until you add a scoop (or two!) of ice cream. 😉

Hop over to this charming longboat, grab your favorite flavor, and enjoy your treat while taking in the beautiful views of York from the water. It’s the perfect little pause between exploring medieval streets, historic walls, and cozy pubs.

Sometimes the best travel moments are the simple ones: good ice cream, beautiful scenery, and nowhere you need to be for a little while.💕🍦
