One of the easiest ways to explore Old Town Spring is by looking up once in a while.

Around nearly every corner, you’ll find colorful murals, painted walls, hidden artwork, and little photo spots that make wandering here feel even more fun.

Some are bold and easy to spot, while others are tucked between shops and side streets waiting to be discovered.

They’ve become part of the personality of Old Town Spring and part of the memories people take home after spending the day here.

If you’ve snapped a photo or selfie in front of one of the murals before, we’d love to see it. Tag us in your photos or drop your favorite mural shot in the comments.

Not sure where to start once you get to Old Town Spring?

That’s part of the fun, but a few good first stops can definitely help.

Grab something to sip, wander through a few shops that catch your attention, stop somewhere unexpected, and give yourself time to explore without rushing from place to place.

You’ll find everything from handmade art and collectibles to snacks, sweets, music, gifts, oddities, and hidden corners that make the whole area feel layered instead of repetitive.

Sometimes you just need a change of scenery without turning it into a whole production.

Old Town Spring makes it easy to spend a few hours somewhere that feels slower, more walkable, and a little unexpected.

Coffee in hand, shops you didn’t plan on stopping in, and old buildings, side streets, hidden corners, and plenty to explore at your own pace.

Close enough for a spontaneous afternoon, but different enough to feel like you actually went somewhere.

Save this for your next free weekend.

Today, making a phone call takes a few seconds.

But in the early 1900s, Spring only had two telephones.

One was located at the Wunsche Brothers garage, gas station, and car dealership near what is now the intersection of I-45 and Spring Cypress. The other was inside a local grocery store. The Wunsche family even built a small phone booth so people could make calls with a little more privacy.

Eventually, party lines were introduced throughout the area. If you lived in town, you likely shared your phone line with three other households. If you lived farther out in the country, it could be closer to five.

Which also meant people learned pretty quickly not to stay on the phone too long because someone else on the line was probably listening.

It’s funny to think about now, but small details like this paint such a clear picture of what everyday life in Spring used to look like long before cell phones, texting, or social media existed.

You don’t always need a full weekend getaway to feel like you got away for a while.

Sometimes it’s just slowing down somewhere that feels different from your normal routine.

Old Town Spring is the kind of place where you can spend an afternoon wandering into shops you didn’t plan on visiting, finding something unexpected, grabbing a drink or dessert, and losing track of time for a little while.

One turn leads to vintage storefronts and another leads to art, music, candles, collectibles, coffee, or something completely strange in the best way.

No big agenda required.

Just a day out that feels a little less rushed than usual.
