The history of Spring begins long before the railroad and the shops we know today.

The Spring Historical Museum documents Orcoquisac communities along Spring and Cypress Creeks. They lived and traded in this area, crafting canoes and exchanging goods with people who traveled through it. Their history is part of understanding this place, even though it is easy to miss when the story begins with the town’s later buildings.

On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we encourage you to spend some time with that earlier history. The Spring Historical Museum is one place to begin when you next visit Old Town Spring.

This World Mental Health Day, we’re sharing a few places in Old Town Spring to keep in mind. Stop for a smoothie at Vitality Lounge, learn about the support available through Creative Therapy & Coaching Center, or take a walk through town with time to pause along the way.

You don’t have to fit all three into an afternoon. Choose what would be helpful to you, and contact Creative Therapy & Coaching Center directly if you’d like to ask about services or scheduling.

Halloween plans in Old Town Spring include an outing for your pup, too.

On Saturday, October 10, starting at noon, bring your dog for Trick ‘grrr’ Treating for Dogs, hosted by Pepper and the Pug with participating shops in town.

Then, on Saturday, October 31, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., join participating shops for the Annual Halloween Event organized by Old Town Spring Shop Events. Leave time to explore, grab lunch, and enjoy an afternoon in town while you’re here.

For generations, families have gathered in Old Town Spring to watch the Christmas tree light up. This year, that tradition will begin Hometown Holidays, a season of visits, performances, and time together in the historic district from November 14 through December 24.

Bringing those experiences to life takes support from the community. Businesses that sponsor Hometown Holidays help welcome visitors throughout the season while supporting the town and the independent businesses that make it special.

Teachers spend so much of the week planning for everyone else. If you’re a teacher, we hope you get an afternoon that belongs entirely to you.

Come to Old Town Spring for lunch, wander into a shop simply because it caught your eye, and leave room for a treat before heading home. There’s no schedule to keep and no particular way to spend the day.
